A group if us reserved a room for 6 adults ( room said up to six ) and got the biggest room they had we got there and walked in the room where there was a strong scent of poop. We had to leave the door open for 20 mins or so (Feb) to get the smell out. After the room was aired out did not really have a problem after even though no ventalation in the bathroom. There is a fan in there but no switch turn it on. During this time we were unloading the so not the worst convenience however the area had ice and we slipped several times. After we got everything unloaded we found the refrigerator was unplugged so all food we had with us had to stay out in the vehicle for about 10. while the refrigerator cooled down. So if you get a room with a fridge plan accordingly for the fridge to be unplugged. We also found the room was set for four. One person of the group went down to tell the front desk to let them know about the fridge, ask for an extra bowl or two and try to get some salt that was laying next to the door. The front desk person said it was policy to unplug the fridge ( I understand saving money where you can but if you expect a group spending 4-5 days there you should have it plugged in ready to go for the group.) My buddy told them about the ice and asked if he could get a handful to spread on the iced area by the cars and was told salt is not for customer use. We did get a few paper bowls, fine by us. So if you have more than 4 in you group staying here PLAN ACCORDINGLY this includes mainly plates, bowls and towels (luckily most of us brought a towel with us). Good qualities the hot tubs were very nice and had spectacular views. However they close at 9 so if you are out all day and want to relax in the hot tubs eat very early as it may take some time to get food and get back before they close on the dot. Personally I feel 10 would be very reasonable to where guest could go out have a nice dinner with a drink come back and not feel rushed to relax. Also all guest would have quietness at 10. The contental breakfast was decent, something you would get at Holiday Inn express. The rooms besides the smell upon entering were clean and nice. Large bathrooms which was also a plus. Overall the place is nice and great location with a great view but the management company could be improve upon. Not sure if we would stay there again, as we come to this...
Read moreMy husband and I are finishing up an amazing first visit to Ouray, Colorado and stayed at the Box Canyon Lodge and Hot Springs. I cannot say enough good things about our experience at this motel. Upon arrival we experienced a couple of hiccups that the staff managed exceptionally. I cannot be more impressed with how kind, understanding, and generous everyone was who we have encountered at the property. Not only were the staff exceptional, but the property was also very enjoyable.||After our first night, the front desk attendant informed us that they noticed water leaking from our suite's bathroom and asked to move us to an upgraded unit with a little more space. We were happy to help them out, although a little bummed that we were losing our king bed, private balcony, and incredible view. But, we repacked all of our bags to accommodate. I am also a nursing mom of a 3 month old at home and travelled with all of my pumping equipment, storage bags, and coolers/ice packs with the intent of bringing home everything I pumped. On our second morning of the trip and first morning in the new unit, I noticed that the refrigerator had been accidentally turned off and all of the breast milk I had stored was ruined, about 15-20 bottles worth of milk. I was very upset and spoke with the front desk about the situation, on top of the inconvenience of moving rooms. They were extremely sympathetic and ended up refunding an extremely generous two nights of our stay. ||Not only were the accommodations very clean and comfortable, but I was so impressed with the staff and service. Everyone was so warm and understanding of our experiences. This level of high quality service is a rarity in any industry, and they excelled. The Box Canyon Lodge and Hot Springs is a must-stay in Ouray. Make sure to enjoy the hot spring pools on the property and the incredible proximity to downtown - everything is just a short walk away. We can't wait to...
Read moreWe have stayed here a few times the past several years and have never had a problem. This year we were treating some good friends of ours to a weekend trip for their Anniversary. We decided to stay in Box Canyon because it's beautiful and it's great location. I made reservations and requested 2 rooms next to each other. One for us and one for our friends. We arrived a little early, at 12:30 to ensure that we were (first in line) to get our rooms reserved and next to each other. I used the kiosk to check in, we got rooms 103 and 104. Perfect!!! When can we get the keys? The lady at the front desk said you can come back at 4 to get your keys. I told her what rooms we were in and asked where they were and she showed us so we could park in front and wait until 4 to get our keys. We wondered around the cute town. Mingled with some locals and headed back at 4 to get the keys. I tell the man I already checked in and just need our keys to our rooms. He gives us keys to rooms 102 and 224. In completely different buildings. I told him, no we are in rooms 103 and 104. We requested rooms next to each other. He says well we had to move you for some reason but I don't know why. I told him to move our room so we are closer to each other because we traveled together and are celebrating their Anniversary so this was a special weekend. He did not accommodate any of our requests. Not even an apology. He came back and told us that we got switched because someone came with a dog, and dogs have to be on the main floor. I said no one called us to ask if that was ok? I will not recommend this place to anyone with it being managed like this. They did nothing to accommodate us for our inconvenience. Very Unfortunate because I really...
