I usually try really hard not to give businesses three stars or under, because I see Google Reviews as a means to boost a businesses traffic.
I ordered the DeGrizzle, an iced Americano, and an apple turnover. My total came to $14.26
๐๐ก๐ ๐๐ฆ๐๐ซ๐ข๐๐๐ง๐จ was very bitter, I roast my own beans and extract my own espresso for my americanos daily so I have a bit of knowledge in the area. They either gave me old coffee, didn't dial in their espresso machine, used bad beans (possibly ones I just didn't like), or reused the same grounds. I am aware that usually when you ice hot coffee it brings the chemical reaction to a halt a lot quicker, and thus speeding up it becoming bitter, but this just tasted bad. I can't say anything about what their hot coffee tastes like or what their sweet coffee drinks taste like because I didn't order them, but based on the Americano I probably wouldn't get anything coffee related again.
๐๐ก๐ ๐๐๐๐ซ๐ข๐ณ๐ณ๐ฅ๐ was good, to my taste it was very flavorful, the cheese and bacon added dimension and the croissant was a perfect level of crispy flakiness! I would definitely recommend it. Definitely the redeeming part of my meal.
๐๐ก๐ ๐๐ฉ๐ฉ๐ฅ๐ ๐๐ฎ๐ซ๐ง๐จ๐ฏ๐๐ซ I HATE to say was definitely a 2/5. I almost want to pour hot coffee into my eyes having to say that Arby's serves a better one (maybe a tad dramatic but you get the point, I don't like fast food restaurants). The pastry part was super dry, it wasn't really flaky, you could tell they put some sort of sugar on top but it was almost flavorless. There wasn't any flavor until you hit the middle, which was cold apples. The filling was a 3/5 to me.
๐๐ก๐ ๐๐ญ๐๐๐ were nice enough but you could tell they weren't really digging the job. Which I can understand, they decided to close the inside of the shop because of COVID which is completely understandable and completely in their own right, but that means all of their customers are waiting in a long line outside in the burning sun, so they have to deal with hungry and hot guests all morning. Just a sad realty of COVID that I won't give them grief for.
I will also mention that they do not have a whole lot of reviews and I was kind of sickened when somebody gave them a low review because they refused service for them for not wearing their mask to the door. There are signs posted all around the building that says that they won't service you if you don't have a mask, and I understand that completely, they should not be bashed for wanting to be safe, it's up to every business right now exactly how they want to treat COVID-19. That was just a side note. It's not that hard, don't be stubborn.
I don't think you're really missing anything if you don't go here, but if you're hungry and willing to wait and a line outside by all means give it a try, I'm pretty sure this is one of the only places open for breakfast in the morning, so I can definitely thank them for feeding...
ย ย ย Read moreArtisan Bakery Not sure if it was a bad day or what but the service and food??? Well letโs go back and start from the beginning. It was March 22, 2013 approx 11:30 am. We had checked out and were ready to head home but wanted something for breakfast. We went into town and decided to try this cute (from the outside) bakery (actually the only bakery in town) we had seen a few days before. We parked in front and ventured in. . . To our surprise the inside was not as sweet as the outside made it appear. Other stores and shops that we had visited during our stay amazed us with originality, design and just plain olโ hospitality. This location lacked all the above. First off I never judge a book by its cover. And I will go back when I visit again to see if they were just off season. We walked into an empty parlor and were greeted by a not so welcomed attitude. The waiter /cashier seemed miffed that we took our time reading the menu and asking questions with regards to the food and drink. Secondly the name Artisan in itself means ART. Right? Bakery means pastries and fresh breads. Right?? Well this place had none of the above. A few cinnamon rolls and a sheet cake that was pumpkin that had a glob of white frosting on each square. Ok off season???? We ordered two croissant breakfast sandwiches with no meat and a coffee drink to go. The whole thing came to approx 16.00. The prep was fast I have to give them thumbs up on that, but again we were the only customers for the first 10 minutes or so. The coffee drink was not worth the $5.00 they charged. It was small and you could not taste the special flavor that was added. That was the first rip-off we felt. The second was the food. The croissants were burnt on the top and the sandwich was tastelessโฆ. Had we not been out of town I would have taken it all back and asked for my money back. Chef Ramsey would have sent the cook home !!!!! Very disappointed. I have gotten better breakfast sandwiches at fast food restaurants and roach coaches for half the price they charged. Like I said, I never judge a book by its cover or hopefully in this case it is off season. And I will go back when I visit again to see if they were just having a bad bakery day or off season blues. Hopefully at that time they will prove to be a real Artisan Bakery and hold to their name. As far as today. Thumbs down. I saw a sign while there that said it was the Best Pizza in townโฆ well maybe they should stick to that part of baking and change the name to Artisan Pizza Parlorโฆ. Then the decor would fit the name. ...
ย ย ย Read moreI've been going to the Artisan for years. The coffee is always hot and strong, the breakfast wraps always hearty and filling. Every once in awhile I splurge and treat myself to a turnover or a muffin. Those are always fantastic, too. It's my go-to breakfast spot in Ouray. Nowadays, they do ask that you wear a mask while ordering. At first I thought this meant they were the kind of genocidal maniacs who would put me in a box car and send me off to a death camp if they ever got the chance. But then I remembered that there's a nasty virus floating around, and these people probably just want to stay as safe as possible since they deal with hundreds of strangers every day. Thank god I'm not a self-absorbed, self-righteous imbecile who can't stand the thought of putting on a mask for thirty seconds. Otherwise I'd miss out on the Western Slope's...
