I stayed here for three nights with my two adult children and my 13 year old son. The website indicated that check in was at 3:00 p.m. and there was no check out time listed. I emailed the owner to ask if we could check in any earlier. She said she would try to accommodate me. We arrived at 10:00 a.m. The owner said the cottage had not even started being cleaned as her cleaning lady had a doctor appt. I asked if we could park a car there until our check in time. She said yes. We came back at 3:00 p.m. only to find that our cottage was still not cleaned. I explained that we really needed to use the bathroom and wanted to go in the pool. The owner's response was that there were plenty of public bathrooms in town. She said that it would take another hour for the room to be cleaned. Instead of apologizing and suggesting that maybe we could check out a little later, she acted as though this was "normal" and that it happens. I asked her to credit me money for the hour I did not have access. she said, "I'll credit you the little percentage". We did check in at 4:10 p.m. Before I arrived I asked if there were air conditioners as it was going to be a weekend in the 90's. She said no but the trees provide shade and there are large fans. We got there only to find a couple of small window fans and two regular size fans, one which was broken and could not be turned on high. It was unbearable to sleep with the heat. The cottage utensils were dirty, I had to buy plastic utensils to use. The cottage was dirty and not maintained. The screens and window sills had layers of dirt. There were holes in the walls, one hole I stuffed a pillow case in because I was afraid of bugs coming in. The step to the loft was loose and a beam was added to the stairs incorrectly with a large part sticking out that cut my sons back. The fire pit in the picture above does not exist. There are two broken down fire pits for all the cottages to share. There was a dirty rotted old grill to use. The website claims WIFI however, there is no WIFI. You can join it for about 60 seconds and then it kicks you off. I tried to move around the cottage to get it to work but it never worked. When I saw my invoice at the end of our stay, I noticed that the owner had never credit me with anything for the late check in. I called her and went over all the thing that I was unsatisfied with. She finally agreed to give me $20 and ordered me to leave. We were all packed up and in the care by 10:00 a.m. waiting for the owner to come out with the $20. She came out and proceeded to talk to her husband for several minutes. I needed to leave so I told her I couldn't wait any longer to credit my account. She stood there with her hand on her hip staring at me. I told her that the attitude she was presenting was why I would never recommend this place. She shouted at me as I pulled away. I felt very uneasy about staying in a place so dirty during COVID 19. Although she assured me the cottage was sanitized, it didn't seem possible with the short amount of time allotted...

Read moreI left a prior review 2 weeks ago and the response from the owner was this. Hi Thomas-- Your visit was in August 2015. We're sorry you had such a poor experience, and that you've held onto your frustration for five years. As it turns out, there was a problematic connection in an outside panel box that our electrician resolved once another guest communicated the difficulty. In your case you chose to suffer silently, vacate early with no notice, and then call two days later requesting a full refund. In other words, you retained possession of the rental for 3 1/2 of the 4 nights you booked and then asked for all your money back. We didn't consider that request, or this review, to be very fair minded, but we wish you better luck in your future travels.
I would like to clear the air and respond to this made up fabrication with the truth in what happened. I stayed one night and tried to make contact with anyone during the night when losing power but was unable. I waited until morning and knocked on the office door and was met by an employee. I cannot say if it was the owner or not. I expressed my concerns with the electricity and other complaints. I asked for 1/2 of my money back. I only stayed 1 night and left the next morning AFTER talking with employees and was told that there was nothing that could be done in regards to any kind of refund. I asked if they could please do the right thing and work with me on any kind of refund since I was leaving after only 1 night because of such bad conditions. Nothing. I did not suffer silently, There was nobody to complain to. I did not call 2 days later, I spoke to you that morning at the back door of your office. I do not like being accused of things that absolutely did not happen. These are fair minded reviews. Please beware before staying here.
Okay, now you can respond to this with backpedaling accusations of things that did not happen just like you’ve done with everyone else that has expressed multiple complaints on your establishment.
