163 Tap Room — Restaurant in Town of Lake George

When we were looking for a place to eat and our original choice wasn't available, we walked past 163 Tap Room and thought "food and beer? But of course." To be fair, had we known this place existed when we were first looking, we would have just gone here to start. Seconds after we walked in the door, we were greeted and sat in the back were there was more A/C. A server was with us quickly and drinks were minutes away. Our food order came out astoundingly fast and our server, Anna, was great checking in with us several times throughout our meal. I chose the deluxe pulled pork sandwich though I do regret my choice of chips as a side. French fries or sweet potato fries would have been so much better. My wife got the strawberry fields salad with grilled chicken and it was fantastic. The kiddo got a cheese quesadilla that was probably more food for them in one sitting than they've had our whole vacation. Thrilled! Also, it is nice that there is gluten alternatives available.

Being a Tap Room, you can bet there are brews on the menu. There were signs on the wall above the taps indicating the draft options and I counted something like 20 but I could be wrong. The can menu was around 3 pages. There were so many options that I became confused and befuddled. I felt like a kid in a candy store with crisp new 5 dollar bill with the instructions "get whatever you want." I still haven't figured out how to work that other than asking "uh, what seems popular?"

It's a shame we don't have more time in Lake George because I would definitely like to come back to the 163 Tap...

New Year Day in Lake George after 1pm. It's time for lunch. I had a gift certificate for the Lakeside Restuarant at Ft. William Henry but they shut down exactly at 1pm. Now what ? My wife wanted chicken so I put in the search for the best chicken restaurant nearby. The search winner was the Tap Room. We are not bar people but Tap Room did not dissapoint at all. The chef here is dedicated to his craft and certainly our server April was a master in articulating the quality of their offerings My wife and I immediately knew we could trust April in guiding us through the food options. Each of our needs choices were best selected with April's instinctive appreciation of our wants. I got a non-alcoholic beer, the bison chili, and the hot ramono chese wings. My wife got the garden flat bread and a salad with chicken. All was so fresh and tasty. The chili was top shelf served with nacho chips which were not salt. Let's not forget the cheddar topping giving a nice dipping mixture with the chip. Next came my wings. They were just a bit of spicey but not too hot. The romano cheese in the sauce was a perfect blend. The wings had a nice crisp exterior and a meaty interior. The celrey was fresh cut and clean. The blue cheese dressing was house made & ultra cheesy. I had to ask for an extra container, as it was so good. My wife had her share of food enjoyment as well eating her fresh veggies and chicken. I absolutely love this place! Walking in it has a really awesome, modern vibe. Very clean and the staff is extremely awesome. Has a ton of local brews on tap and in cans/bottles which the staff knows very well and makes really good recommendations.

One of the greatest things about the restaurant is their kids menu. When we travel, we search for places to eat by the kids menu first, followed by what my wife and I like. The Kids menu here is really awesome! Both of our little ones found something that they would eat.

Since we were traveling all day, we didn't try any entree's, but only apps - Wings, Nachos and the pretzels. All were incredible. Wings were cooked perfectly and the sauce was really good. The nachos were spot-on - good amount of cheeses and toppings so every bite has something on it, and the pretzels were a hit with the kids (and us also...).

Adriana, our server, ensured that all of the food came out together (because of the apps on our adult order, and main courses on the kids order, they could have come out separately). She was very attentive, friendly, knowledgeable and personable. Interacted great with the kids. She really made the entire experience awesome.
