I LOVE the Yellowstone Inn! My mom and I stayed here for one night in July. We made our accommodations back in April and we were happy to learn that West Yellowstone still had some places available during the peak travel season. We weren't really looking for something rustic and honestly kind of hesitant that the room wouldn't be very nice. But it ended up being one of the nicest rooms on our trip! The whole property was so cute and well maintained.
We stayed in room 2 which has two queen beds. The room was the perfect size. Keep in mind, there isn't a couch so it might be a little small depending on how many people stay in the room. The beds were VERY comfortable, maybe a little squeaky but it didn't bother us. The comforters were thick and warm, which was great because us Floridians blasted the A/C (window unit above the bed) the entire time we were in the room.
The bathrooms were super nice. They looked recently redone and were super clean. The towels in particular stuck out to me because they were long and fluffy, much better than the usual cheap hotel towel.
The room came with a mini fridge and TV, both worked great. At first, we couldn't figure out the sound on the TV and had to ask for assistance. Our door also wouldn't lock. We left for dinner and came back, both issues were resolved and we appreciated the quick fix.
Location wise, I think this place sits a little far from the main area of West Yellowstone. But it's quiet and peaceful, and an easy drive from all the restaurants and shops. I suggest stopping at Ernie's, which is just down the street. One thing I should mention is the parking. Since we were staying in room 2, the closest area to park was on the street in front of the inn. Which means you have to parallel park depending on how many cars are already there or park around the corner on the side street. Not a big deal, but just something to consider.
Overall, my experience at the Yellowstone Inn was fantastic. Great service, great value, and comfortable rooms. I wish I could have gotten to stay more than one night. We planned our trip last minute otherwise I would have spent more time here. I hope I get another chance to...
Read moreWe were so disappointed! We realize that we came at the end of the season but service and courtesy should still be a priority.
First note: Rediculous tiny square pillows! When I called to inquire if standard pillows are available, the desk clerk giggled and said that standard pillows are not available because, "they probably bought the cheapest pillows possible!" We agree! So folks, bring your own pillows if you can!
Second note: Service in the fancy, reservations only restaurant is poor, at best. More coffee? Nope! Is your dinner satisfactory? Not asked. It is very overpriced for such mediocre service.
Along this path, the barrista at the coffee bar darn near snarled both times we ventured there. Bring cash or your credit card; you can't charge it to the room.
Finally, you'd better get your car into the front or back parking lots before dark. If you don't, you will either not find a spot and, if you do, you will have a rather treacherous walk in the pitch black dark to the hotel. Note: We were told by the surely desk clerk that tickets are issued and cars are booted for parking outside of posted (in the pitch black dark) areas.
We are avid travelers and chalk the negative culture of The Yellowstone Inn to being fully booked by people like us who expected better from this historic establishment.
Bottom line: The Yellowstone Inn is not worth the considerable cost. I would not choose to come here again or to recommend...
Read moreThis Inn would of recieved 5 stars but because of the manager (older gentleman with a ponytail) was very rude. We asked for a plastic for and he said no. Even though they provide them for the breakfast. And I would of been ok with walking across the street to get one. It was the manner that he took with me. Being in a smoke free room and I'm a smoker....I went outside to smoke. On my way out I heard him being rude to another guest. I would never want someone to lose their job but being in this industry it's all about customer service.....and he has NONE! The rest of the staff was absolutely friendly. As long as this manager is in charge I won't been stay that...
