Booked a 3 night stay here. Arrived at 8:45pm for check in - nobody in the office. Called the after hours number and waited for someone to arrive who gave me the keys. When we went to our condo, we realized that the bed configuration wasn’t as advertised or booked and didn’t work for us. I went back to the office and explained the issue and they gave me another unit that had the proper bed layout - but when I went to that unit it smelled terribly - which is probably why they moved us to begin with. I went back and asked if they would either refund my money so I could take my family elsewhere or offer a discount if I was to accept a unit that wasn’t as advertised. At $475/night, I felt like that was a fair request. Then the owner storms into the office with attitude, hands on her hip and tells me how wonderful her place is and that it doesn’t smell (she said it used to smell because of food left in the unit but she had fixed that). I explained to her that staying in the unit that stunk wasn’t an option, but at a discounted rate I’d stay in the other unit that didn’t work as well, but we’d make work. When she went off on a rant/tangent that if I couldn’t afford to pay full price I should take my business elsewhere I did exactly that. Got my refund and found another place that I actually like much more. Terrible business person. Unit was subpar anyways - neither one looked anything like what I saw in the pictures when I booked. Glad she didn’t get my money and I was able to support another small business owner. I’d never recommend The Aspen Condos in West...
Read moreWe booked our stay months ago, then the flood happened, 2 weeks before our trip. We were supposed to be staying in the condo with our family from Maine. Everything was in the air, not sure if the park was even going to be open. My husband reached out to cancel, explaining that this trip had been a gift to me, to see Yellowstone & my family. The Aspen refused to refund our stay. Even with a 500 year flood they quoted their cancellation policy (which I would typically have no problem honoring) & that “there are other things to do, we aren’t affiliated with the park” Really?? You don’t go cross country to see the zoo or the IMAX. This was a trip that we all saved a long time for; a YELLOWSTONE trip. Our Maine family had to cancel as they had plane tickets, hotel rental near their departing airport and a rental car to consider. They just didn’t have the time to wait and see how it played out. Our crew from Washington went, we were driving. We couldn’t stand the idea of wasting that much money; it wasn’t the same without the rest of our family. We missed out on so many memories. Decent place to stay but the lack of empathy from the company was disheartening to say the least. Just for that, I would not stay...
Read morePros: Great location in West Yellowstone allowed for a short drive to the west entrance to Yellowstone National Park. There are a few restaurants and grocery stores within half a mile. We rented a 3 bedroom condo (queen, queen, 2 twin) with 2 full bathrooms and a full kitchen and it was very spacious with plenty of room to spread out with all of our road trip items. Great for our family of 5 (could even fit 6-7 if someone slept on the couch downstairs). Would definitely recommend for a larger family as a base location to tour Yellowstone- we really didn't mind driving into the park each day as we went in different directions each time (south to Old Faithful, east to Grand Canyon, and north to Mammoth). The lines can get long at the entrance, so leave early! Cons: The windows in all the bedrooms had a large hose hooked up to a large and noisy fan/AC machine that took up quite a bit of space in the bedrooms. This felt a bit weird, but we did need AC one night and heat the next so it was nice to be able to control both. It has a modern, but spare feel with little personality-...
