Happened to visit this place again last night. I thought perhaps things would be better this time. Cutting back my rating to a single star.
Reasons: Basic hospitality totally missing. Even the Vietnamese staff who one finds extremely courteous and well behaved in other places appear quite cold. There is simply no effort made to appear a little hospitable.
I ordered Dal tadka which was averge in my opinion. Roti was good though. I asked for some onions and the Indian waiter/manager questioned my choice and demanded to know how exactly would I eat onions (or is it becuase this was not in the menu and so not priced? But, most Indian would want a small helping of onions on the table). Simple items like pickles (something that most Indian restaurants would generally keep on table the moment guests take seats) was not provided or was perhaps unavailable.
If not for a lack of choice and short staying tourists, the place would not see many customers.
In my view Tandoor (on Hang Be) is much better in terms of both food and customer service.
Review from 3 years back: 2 stars for good food and quick service. What could have been a 5 star review is compromised by lack of transparency in pricing of the menu and smaller food portion. I personally like to be informed and want no surprises in such cases. Most restaurants in Vietnam (Indian and others) display total price of a food item upfront. This was not the case in Zaika. The bill contained VAT and an additional service charge - a practice that is borrowed from India (service charges have been made optional for customers in India). It is not needed and one could just add these in the total price so that the customer knows fully what he/she is going to pay. The other minor issue was that the restaurant gave just one roti in the platter - i was expecting 2. I paid a total of around 240,000 (around 10 USD) for 1 roti, one small katori of dal and another small katori of vegetable. Ah! I had a beer (small Can) too which cost me around 50,000 (within 240,000). The restaurant could do better with being transparent on pricing and...

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Zaika Restaurant, and I must say, it was an exceptional experience from start to finish!
We kicked off our meal with some delightful chicken kebabs and chicken momos. Both dishes were cooked to perfection, bursting with flavor and beautifully presented. The kebabs were tender and juicy, infused with a captivating blend of spices that left us wanting more, while the momos were light, fluffy, and paired perfectly with a tangy dipping sauce that elevated the entire experience.
For our main course, we indulged in the prawns fried rice along with fish chilly gravy. The fried rice was wonderfully aromatic, featuring succulent prawns and vibrant vegetables that made each bite satisfying. The fish chilly gravy was a standout – rich, spicy, and incredibly flavorful, adding the perfect zing to our meal.
Aside from the amazing food, what truly made our dining experience memorable was the hospitable staff. The service was prompt, friendly, and always with a warm smile. They were attentive without being intrusive and provided great recommendations, which only enhanced our overall experience.
I highly recommend Zaika Restaurant to anyone looking for delicious food and a welcoming atmosphere. Whether it's a casual dinner or a special occasion, this place is sure to impress. I can’t wait to return and explore more...
