Got a spot at the counter right away, went at 830 and it was still pretty busy but they had a spot for me. Price-quality is excellent, especially for being in such a touristy area. For the money it was probably the best sushi I had this time in Japan. Be aware that some popular items may be sold out if you go later but it’s much better than waiting for a seat in my opinion. It is a very casual atmosphere. I speak a little Japanese and talked with a super funny local guy for about 40 minutes. His wife got very mad lol, I guess it was their date night. I would highly recommend. Quality of fish is amazing and I’m from Italy so you can trust me on food (fish especially as we eat a lot of raw fish where my wife is from). Next time I will definitely go back. Everyone was very nice, fast service, great quality food and nihonshu, and a great location. I spent more than most people but that was because I am very tall and get very hungry and when it comes to raw fish I have a...
Read moreIt was the most delicious sushi I've had in my life. Of course sushi preferences vary, but this is a place that focuses on fresh fish.
There's only one reason I drop my review to 3 stars. We arrived about 15 mins before opening time and there was a food tour guide there already who kind of tried to prevent people from queuing, saying things like the place is closed till later, and we were like yeah we know and then proceeded to say that her food tour group is X people and how place may not fit us all. The tour guide is there at 11am before anyone queues up since the place takes no reservation. Mind you, most of her group arrived right when the restaurant opened.
My honest opinion is that such tour guides should come to agreements with local companies instead of going so much out of their way to ruin other people's experiences and act as gatekeepers to...
Read moreOne of the best sushi I have had in my life! I loved the food and ambiance. After reading some reviews I became slightly hesitant to visit the place (how chef are rude etc), but at least for my experience I did not have an issue with sushi chef. We ordered tuna-set (five pieces of tuna including toro), sea urchin, engawa, and tuna skin with ponzu. All the sushi were fresh and thick. I am quite shy and don't like much to talk with chef, but he was very friendly and taught me how to have it proper way. Here there is no seat and you have to stand the whole time, but it wasn't a concern after all. I could only find menu in Japanese and chefs & staff didn't seem to be able to speak English, so taking someone who is comfortable with Japanese may be...
