While I had been here many times and had a very good dining experience before, today's was the worst.
At around 3.20-ish PM, Saturday afternoon (18 March 2023), we were having our meal until we heard a commotion going on near the entrance of the outlet. As we thought it was just customers chatting at first, we didn't pay heed. But gradually, the commotion were becoming very loud, unpleasant and uncomfortable. Turns out the commotion came from the restaurant female manager in charge at that period.
She was berating and scolding 2 trainee boys (as per their nametag) in white clothes, while doing it so in front of the customers near the entrance. It was very loud, rude, full of anger and unprofessional. I am sorry to say that our dining experience were badly affected because of the scolding she did, in front of the customers inside this restaurant. I am sure we were not the only ones who felt uncomfortable by this as there were customers seated nearby the incident which it took place. Just imagine we were seated 2 tables away from the entrance, and yet we still could hear her scolding those 2 trainee boys in a very unprofessional and inhumane manner.
While I understand there are perhaps mistakes done by the trainees, it is not professional to scold or berate them in front of the customers, when advices/guidance could be done in private. It still won't justify why the manager did that in front of all customers in the restaurant, in a very loud angry voice. Shows that there is little manner and respect given to customers eating in the restaurant. Is this how the manager is trained, showcasing no professionalism at all?
I hope Sushi Zanmai could look into this matter, and take corrective action as I believe there are CCTV nearby to capture the incidents happening around 3.23PM at Suria Sabah outlet, on Saturday (18/3/2023) inside the restaurant, just a bit after the entrance. I am a patron of Sushi Zanmai but perhaps after this, I will not reconsider on visiting again if such unprofessional behaviours by your managers are displayed this way.
We were deeply disturbed by this and I unfortunately have to leave bad reviews on this outlet, because of this incident. Official complaint has also been filed in hopes that the same incident won't be...

Took quite some time before anyone notice me being there , after seating . i took my sweet time ordering the food and when I was ready to order . The QR code come so slowwww . No one was there ready to serve us at all , they are not busy ! They are talking loudly amongst each other .
After ordering , my food came . 1st food - Tamago Mentai Sushi Came with no sauce , where did the sauce go ? Picture got sauce ? Everytime I order got sauce as well ? Where is the sauce ? For this one , it's fine I get it ... Maybe too busy talking up to the point not realizing they forgot to put the sauce .
2nd food - Chicken Katsu Curry Rice Chicken not crispy as how it supposed to be , i know it's supposed to not be crispy . But if you've ate their Chicken Katsu Curry Rice . It is served with crispy chicken even when it's dipped with the curry . I'll just stay quiet bout this part .
3rd Chicken Katsudon 1st came the smell , it doesn't smell enticing as it supposed to . Chicken was soooo wet . Literally it's like you drown my chicken in the water after frying it . 2nd Dry ASF .
3rd looked underneath the chicken to find ? ( DRY rice , they didn't even put some sauce on it ) if you ate chicken Katsudon before , they do put some sauce . Not too wet not too dry , just so you could swallow it easier . But today was damn dry !
4th I asked for service , pressed the button , raised my hand . NOTHINGGG !!!! worst part? 2 of your employee saw me asking for help on my food , what did they do? They saw me and evade eye contact with me . PRETENDING not to see me , istg they fix the plate (tidying) and stuff that doesn't need any fixing just to avoid servicing me .
5th when a server come , I asked if they can put some sauce in it ... As it is very dry . The server took it ... all they had to do was PUT THE SAUCE . Holy cow , what's taking them 5 minute to wet A RICE????
6th when the food came back , guess what? They warm the food . Sir , I specifically asked for some sauce not some warm up on my food .
This is my first time not finishing up my food , No more next time ! Utter...

We order 3 main course & 1 side order. 2 main course & the side order came, so I just wait patiently & enjoyed the side order, until my wife & son had finished their meal, my order has not served yet. Though pressing the bell to call them to check my order, noone come. To my frustration, I have no choice but called the Lady Assistant Manager to come & cancel the order, NO REASON WAS GIVEN TO ME WHY MY ORDER HAS NOT BEEN SERVED FOR WAITING FOR ABOUT 1 HOUR. I requested for a compensation~Discount on my bill, but she said she offered me a dessert, I rejected & would like to see the Manager on duty that night, but she didnt say anything just said to offer a dessert. My reason to see the Manager in duty was to let him/her know the whole senario that happened.
