I booked this for myself and 2 buddies. We were on the Fishy Bizness for the day. We were set to arrive at 0630 at their store front which is super easy to find. We probably departed on the vessel around 0700ish maybe a little later as we were the last ones to get to our vessel. The cost of this place is quite a bit less than other places which I was wary about when booking, however the vessel, crew, and team were all fine and my worries were for nothing. The person who communicates via the website and email was onpoint and easy to get ahold of. The vessel itself was great overall and operated without issue. The crew was nice and efficient and we ended up catching 5 dorado and 1 marlin. The only reason we caught 5 dorado was because we insisted in heading further out to sea to look for tuna which took quite a bit of time. The dorado were all caught within 1 hour of leaving the dock, the marlin later in the day. Sadly no tuna were caught for probably 2 reasons. The first of which was we didnt head out there right away which I was under the impression we would since I stated that was the main fish we were after but I guess that wasnt really communicated to the captain and the reason only 4 stars were given. After we caught the fish we had convinced him to head the 20+ miles out catch tuna, or at least try to. I fully understand why he wanted to go for dorado right away as the weather was cloudy and nice and they were biting constantly. They were super fun to reel in and fight. Our tuna adventure sadly fell short as we didnt catch any. We did see a few vessels reel some in but I am convinced the 100+ dolphins in and around the boats did not help our cause. Was amazing to see the wildlife though and we did see the tuna jumping out of the water. After trying for tuna for a bit, the captain decided to head back towards land (I would have liked to have stayed out longer and all day trying to get tuna). On the way back we tried for more dorado and marlin. No luck on dorado but we were lucky enough to have a marlin take our bait and battle lasted 22 minutes. Marlin is catch and release so sadly no food out of that fish. We headed back to the docks and that was it. 5 dorado weighed in at 43ish lbs. That translated sadly to about 14 lbs of meat which in the package we had up to 30 lbs they would have vac sealed and froze. So lesson is catch at least 4 fish per 10 lbs of filet. Overall, the experience was great and we will repeat whenever he head back to cabo. We did ask for the fish to be divided weight wise into 3rds so we could all split it but that didnt quite happen so hence another reason for 4 stars. But these are rather minor things. Next round I will make it super clear tuna is the only fish we are after so 0 miscommunication happens again. 100% recommend this company though. You cannot beat the price or the service they offer. Lunch was decent also that was included. Thank you to the crew of the fishy bizness and the staff of lands end. For travellers, dont forget to tip the crew nicely also for their hard work as that second crewman worked damned hard trying to haul that marlin outta the water for us along with all his other duties. 1 last thing, if you have excess fish etc you dont need or want, they donate that to a local charity for children I believe which is...
Read moreI do want to start off by saying the customer service team were quite nice and went above and beyond before our trip started, however, it goes downhill once they’ve taken my money and we get onto the boat.
What started off as a somewhat nice day, as we head out, we notice a storm coming in and the sea is kind of rough. An hr in I start to get sea sick so I ask to be taken back to the marina, we paid for an hr 8 trip, so I advise my partner can continue on since he wasn’t sea sick. The captain says it’s up to my partner but advises it’s not a good idea as it’ll only get worse. I ask if that’s the case, do I get some money back if we have to end it at 2 hrs instead of 8, the captain says no. So I advise that isn’t quite fair since you’re saying we shouldn’t go back out due to the weather, which isn’t my fault. The captain then proceeds to finger point at me and yells in my face that’s it’s my fault that we were heading back to the marina to which I respond, I didn’t say it was his fault, I know we’re dropping me off but my partner can go back out but if you don’t think it’s a good idea because the storm will get worse then I should get some money back. He yells at me some more and calls the customer service team to meet us at the dock. The customer service rep tries his best to compromise with me and the captain, the captain clearly is pissed which was such a turn off for us because it didn’t make us want to spend another 6 hours with him. In the end the customer service rep advises he would’ve rescheduled us for a half day but the weather doesn’t seem to get better and the best he could do was give us $100 back if we cancelled which was pretty ridiculous seeing as we only did 2/8 hrs. He said he could speak to his manager but he would have to go back to the office to call them which made us feel like we were pressured into making a decision then and there. In the end my partner went back out but it was even rougher and he had to hold onto something the whole time otherwise he would be falling down all over the place, while also being rained on and water rushing over and into the boat. Of course we didn’t catch anything and my partner ended up getting sea sick after 3 more hours on the boat since it was such bad weather and he’s never been sea sick before until then. Then at the end after the way the captain treated me he basically demanded a tip from my partner. It was a terrible birthday treat for my partner and ruined the start of our vacation.
In summary, it felt they put money above our safety and seem to use low grade captains as he stunk of booze and clearly doesn’t understand basic customer service. If you do end up going with lands end, do not use Jose.
*Update in response to the owners message: I did not change to a full day charter the day of, I booked an 8 day charter two weeks beforehand. I also never said I should get a full refund for being motion sick, I accepted I was motion sick and lost an hour going back to the marina and my partner going back out, that was my loss. But $100 was not acceptable as a refund for only doing 2 out of an 8 hr fishing trip, especially since the captain pressured us to not going back out and the staff said there was no point rescheduling. Terrible lies from the owner. So reducing to 1...
Read moreDON’T CARE ABOUT SAFTEY OF PASSENGERS AND FORGED SIGNATURE!!! I had booked a private yacht with Jenny a week before going to Cabo. When I booked, and with it being hurricane season in Cabo, I asked her if the conditions are unsafe to go out, would we get a refund for our deposit. She confirmed that yes if the conditions are unsafe, we would get a refund. Fast forward to day off, we can see a storm is coming in and also see it on weather apps. I text Jenny and let her know of our concerns, and she says no the weather is just fine and if you decide not to go on she will charge me the full amount to card on file (which I also did not consent to saving my card info to their files). We speak to the locals and the concierge at our hotel and they told us they have closed most water activities and that it would be very unsafe for us to go out there. No matter how much I tried to express this concern to Jenny, she did not care and get reiterating that she would charge us the full amount. No concern for our safety or our lives. Mind you, she lives in America and does not even know what is happening in Cabo. I call in and spoke to an employee who actually lives in Cabo and he agreed that it is definitely unsafe for us to be out there with the weather conditions as it was pouring rain and super windy. We decided not to go as we value our lives and did not want to risk it. I then notice that once our time for going on the boat comes, I get an email with documents where they forged my signature as if I was there and present. They commuted FRAUD which is definitely not okay and a crime being that this is an American company. I have videos of the weather conditions on this day, but google will only let me upload pictures so here are pictures. The much larger boat than our yachts that were out in the water with NO passengers were getting crushed by the waves. And according to Jenny “this is totally normal and safe conditions for us to be out there.” No morals or value for peoples lives. Just money...
