i had a not so great experience at American eagle unfortunately but I am understanding of the situation and I donāt resent anyone for it. Iāll preface by saying Iām not necessarily writing this out of anger, but more so because Iād like to help prevent it from happening to a future customer.
Iāve never shopped at American Eagle before because I am a bit curvier (Iāve attached a photo of me for reference). I was nervous to go in but I got a gift card for Christmas so I went. The VERY second I stepped my foot in the door, with 0 hesitation, I had a sales associate say āhi! Are you looking for the plus size section?ā
Iāve worked in retail, so I understand that she was probably trained to read the customers and try to accommodate to their needs as best as she can. However, I will say that it definitely made me feel insecure and kind of ruined my day even though I KNOW she meant no harm. She was genuinely trying to help Iām sure. I just was feeling pretty that day, but then I got reminded that the outside world sees me for my weight first and not just as any regular customer. Even though I am in fact a plus size girl, I it felt like I immediately got told āwelcome in, I can see youāre fat and we have clothes for that!ā
I KNOW she didnāt mean it like thatš but I definitely wouldnāt want anyone in the future feeling the way it made me feel. So basically Iām writing this review so hopefully the staff can be trained to not make assumptions on what people are looking for just in case it may come off as offensive. Itās almost like if I walked into Sephora with a face full of acne and someone immediately said āhi are you looking for the full coverage make up?ā Yes, clearly thatās what I may need but no one wants to hear that the second they walk in a store. I hope this makes sense and again I...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI bought my daughter 2 pairs of jeans for Christmas. She goes to college out of state, 800 miles away. The jeans didnāt fit so she tried to exchange them at the Lenox store. None of the jeans there fit her well, so she asked for a refund. She had the gift receipt. They said they couldnāt give her a return because she didnāt have the detailed receipt (which is ridiculous, because the whole point of a gift receipt is to allow the recipient of the gift to return them. And it has a bar code, which they could obviously scan). So I texted her a pic of the detailed receipt. Then they said they couldnāt allow her to return because she didnāt have the physical credit card. Again, makes no sense since every other retailer seems to be able to easily credit the card electronically used to purchase the merchandise. She asked for the manager who also refused to give her a refund, only a store credit. This is in clear violation of their published refund policy. I will never shop...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI had an unfortunate experience at the store with my partner recently that I believe could be improved. When we walked in around 7 PM, we noticed that the staff seemed preoccupied with their phones, and we didn't receive a greeting. It was surprising, especially given that the store was quite empty just before closing.
While at the cash register, we felt overlooked as the employees attended to another customer instead of us. Additionally, I encountered some confusion regarding the pricing of the T-shirts; I discovered that I had been charged $35 for a T-shirt that was listed at $20.
I believe that with some focus on customer engagement and clearer pricing practices, this store could enhance the shopping experience significantly. It's important for businesses to prioritize customer service and maintain price integrity to keep loyal customers...
