I was recently in Atlanta for business and a good friend suggested I should take a stop over at the Tecovas store down on Around Lenox Rd to check out their selection of cowboy boots and western wear. I’m somewhat new to cowboy boots and wanted the opportunity to get fitted and try on a few different pairs. I walked in and was greeted by Blaine who asked if he could be of assistance and I explained to him that I was somewhat of a noob and wanted some guidance in boot selection. Blaine took me over to the display wall and explained the different leathers and hides, toe styles and heel shapes. He asked me what I thought I’d be doing most in boots and I told him I wanted something that was a traditional boot that I could rock in a nice pair of jeans but could also dress up well if needed. Blaine guided me to the Cartwrights, the Earl, the Nolan, the Weston and the Johnnys. My goodness, were they ALL incredibly gorgeous! He asked me what I normally wore in a shoe size before telling me to feel free to look around while he went back to bring some boots out for me to try on. I could feel the excitement and anticipation as I walked around scoping everything out. The smell of glorious leather all around me! He came back out after a short time with an armful of boxes and a solid “You’re in luck…we have em all in stock!” I sat down and started trying each pair on. To my surprise, my normal size 9.5 (he told me I was most likely a D width) were a perfect fit. Also to my surprise, all of the boots felt immediately comfortable. I had in my head that they’d be stiff and thinking my feet would be pinched. Blaine explained that with Tecovas boots, unlike some other brands, are built to be comfy and have a broken in feel straight out of the box. I totally wasn’t expecting them to be as comfortable as they were. While they were all gorgeous, and I would have loved to grab em all, I decided to go with the smooth ostrich Weston’s in russet. Blaine explained that ostrich is a soft and supple yet durable leather that are great for dress up or down, and that compared to other hides, they’re relatively low maintenance. They also fit my budget. Before ringing everything up Blaine suggested a Tecovas leather care kit and told me what I needed to do for overall care. He even tossed in an extra koozie for cold refreshments! All I can say is I had an amazing experience. I could tell Blaine has a passion for what he does and was incredibly knowledgeable and made me feel really comfortable and confident in my purchase. That’s the kind of experience I have no problem dropping my hard earned money on a product! Thank you Blaine for everything! I even feel like I made a new friend. He provided me with the store number and said if I needed any assistance or follow up questions to please call. And that if I wanted to make any future boot purchases that I could call direct and shipping is free just like on the website. If you’re new (or old) to cowboy boots and looking for a a great shopping experience, take a mosey on down to Tecovas. And be sure to ask for...

Recently, I decided to purchase my first pair of western boots. After a not inconsiderable amount of research, multiple brand comparisons, and some-cost benefit analysis I’ve decided to go with Tecovas for my first pair.
I looked up my local Tecovas store, and went in for a look. I love how all models and colors of the boots they carry are on display so you can get a better idea what they look and feel like in real life, vs in a 2 dimensional photo. Their Cartwright model in cafe color and goat hide really caught my eye. The first associate who assisted me (Adriana I believe, but I might be wrong on that account, and if so, my apologies) was very knowledgeable and helpful in answering all of my questions, and helping me pick the right size boots for me.
A day later I decided to swap them out, because after some self-reflection it made more sense to go with the rubber-soled version, since I intend to ride my motorcycle in my boots, and the metal footpegs would eventually chew up the leather outsole, specifically in the arch area. It would have been a waste.
This time Lance was helping me out. He helped me determine the right fit which was slightly different from before (since the rubber-soled Cartwrights only come in cow hide version, they fit me a little snugger). Unfortunately, they didn’t have my chosen model in stock in my size (walnut cow hide Cartwrights), so he had to order them in for me. They would be delivered in 2-3 days. The exchange process was quick and easy which was an added bonus.
5 days later FedEx still hasn’t delivered my boots. They had it held in their local warehouse due to some idiotic made-up reason for a couple of days.. I spent hours on the phone with them, and spoke with several of their reps. trying to suss out the “confusion” they seemed to be having. They gave me the usual spiel about “only the sender can update/make changes to the order.” I called my Tecovas store, and explained the situation I found myself in. The associate at Tecovas (Billy), was helping me start a fire under Fedex’s @$$ to have them do their job, and deliver it sooner rather than later. (Mind you, FedEx was already 2 days late at this point which they ended up blaming on their system).
Regardless, the point of the story is, it’s been a long while since I had the pleasure of experiencing such superb customer service at a retail store. Every single associate who was helping me throughout the process went above and beyond, which I truly appreciate. I love my new boots. They are very comfortable, and they just plain look great. I’m certain I will be back for another pair in the foreseeable future.
Special shout-out to the people helping me: Adriana (I believe), Lance, and Billy....
Read moreThis store has a very good selection of boots. I recommend you visit this store and make this your store of choice when searching for a good boot. I've visited this store three times within the past week. Each time I've visited, I've received impeccable service, particularly from Demetrius and Billy on separate occasions. In this day and age when good customer service seems to be a rarity in the retail industry, it's refreshing to experience good customer service at this store. From the second I entered the store on my first visit, I was greeted and assisted by Billy. He took his time and assisted me until I was satisfied with the boot that I ultimately purchased, The Doc - Midnight boot. On a subsequent visit, Demetrius provided awesome customer service and assistance, which led to me buying The Zane - Pecan boot. Demetrius took his time and offered tidbits of advice that enlightened me on the selection of boots that Tecovas has to offer. He knows feet and he knows boots. In addition, it's good that Demetrius, as well as, other employees, wear the boots that are sold in the store. Therefore, you can see the boot worn and allow them to provide insights on the boots. Both Billy and Demetrius treated me with care and consideration. They told me that they want their customers to feel like a part of the family. They certainly made me feel welcome and valued. It was like being in the living room of a house and buying shoes. On both occasions they offered me a beverage and answered questions about Tecovas. I was given a bottle of sparkling water on the way out of the store by an associate with a long beard. He's an Atlanta native. He added humor to the visit. I can't recall his name, but you'll know him when you visit. He didn't assist me with buying a boot, but his added touch of class further enhanced the customer service experience as Demetrius closed my sale. The employees worked as a team. My third visit was to exchange boots that I purchased the previous day for a different color. I had never taken them out of the box or worn them. I decided after getting home that I wanted a color that would add diversity to my boot collection. Demetrius greeted me with a smile when I entered the store and graciously tranascted the exchange with no hassle. Another employee offered me a beverage while I tried on the boots of the preferred color just to make sure they fit. They did and I was on my way. Based on the aforementioned interactions, I'll be visiting this store again very soon. Thank you all for the...
