The name fits as Dirty 6th street is just that but, can be fun for crazy drinking, fast food, party, and dancing. All the activities effect the surrounding areas and if you like it- and want something cleaner as night life west 6th or try rainy area just west of Fairmont hotel a well liked newer hotel. 6th is well patrol by policemen but is at another level from Vegas and closes compared to the Nashville experience without the good music and just dirty- people are past out on sidewalks, street and are often accompanied by vomit pile or other human waste- there is little to no personal space and often you need to take a side street to avoid it.
The bar strip caters to the college crowd and visitors to experience the whole experience of college party in 1 night.
Plus drinks are price lower than most bars and food is surprisedly good- even the outside post and many food trucks in the area. Be ready to wait as it’s often busy and crowded. It’s just off I35 and surrounded by many hotels plus just blocks from campus...
Read moreOnly been there once for my buddy's Batchelor party. It was a rollicking good time due in no small part to the residents of Austin successfully keeping it weird and a hell of a lot of fun. This was pre2020 so I hope things will again be weird for you soon should you visit. An incredible variety of bands playing simultaneously in a myriad of clubs and bars of all shapes and sizes. The most memorable had 3 different bands playing 3 different musical genres on 3 different floors. I don't know how many we saw in total but I don't recall any of them being sub par. If you like to party and you go near Austin you'll kick yourself later if you don't check it out. Every Saturday night I hear.
