After some research and reviews about this spa I decided to get a consultation for some stubborn face spot I couldnāt get rid off. I went in to the Spa and confirmed the spots on my face was melasma. I recommended āthe perfect derma peelā treatment. Went ahead and had the treatment applied on my face in Friday Dec 20th. I was told downtown would be day 3-4. I figured I would be good for Christmas. Wrong! Was sent home with the kit that had two small packets of the facial wash, towelette, derma moisturizer and sun screen. Followed the instruction I was given on how I was to use these products at home. Day 2 (Saturday morning) woke up to a red face. From what I told and what I read it was normal. As the day progressed my face started to get flared up and became very painful. By 7pm Saturday night I had to go to Urgent Care. My entire face was so red and painful that it was looking close to a bluish purple color. The doctor was not only shook to have see my face but wanted to know what happened. I explained to him I had a chemical peel treatment the day before. He called the spa but unfortunately they were closed. Gave me a steroid shot and prescribed me some strong pain pills. I reached out to the young lady who assisted me and even sent her a picture. She replied back saying it was normal. She answered my questions and concerns. I have very sensitive skin and should had not had this treatment applied on my face. Day 3 Sunday my face has started to peel. I contact the lady from the spa again to keep her in the loop with my progress. Day 4 Monday had to return to work covered myself as much as possible. Skin was still peeling. Face was hot, dry, itchy and still peeling. I had to do my Christmas shopping at night. Being out in public was embarrassing. Day 5 Tuesday (Christmas eve) face peeling was almost cleared up. Face had been dry and very flaky. Day 6 Wednesday (Christmas) no more peeling on my face just hairline and by this day my neck is so dry and irritated. Day 7 Thursday had to return back to work face is flared up red but tolerable and neck is just itching, hot and irritated. Applied some ice packs I took to work with me through the day. Night time I only got 2 hrs of sleep. I had to continuously numb the itching and pain out with ice packs. Day 8 Friday itās been a week now and all the flaring on my neck has progressed down to my chest. Called my dermatologist and was seen at 9 am. He was highly upset to have found out what I did and even more upset when he saw all the ingredients. Went back to work, washed my face, neck and chest and applied the ointment. No help what so ever. I figured I would apply again after I get home and shower. Itās 7pm and itās gotten worse. Called Urgent Care to check in. The gentlemen asked what it was for. I explained to him the situation and he pulled up my chart. He placed me in hold and went to talk to the dr on shift. He gets back on the phone and said that the dr recommends taking the pain pills prescribed on Saturday when I first went in, take an over the counter antihistamine and continue to apply ice packs. Slept 4 hrs and Iām up due to the bothersome of flare, itchiness on my neck, chest and now back on my face. I have followed all the instructions provided. I cannot seem to get any help with this painful and uncomfortable situation. I paid Maras Spa $295 for the derma peel treatment, $40 copay for urgent care and $95 for dermatologist visit. At this point due to the pain and uncomfortable feeling because I canāt sleep or just go on about my day I will head to the ER. I adding this review so that no one else has to go through what I have experience. Followed all the instructions provided, have stayed away from sun but Iām exhausted of having to deal with this each and everyday. Unfortunately i cannot upload a picture on this page for you all to see. Regards,...

Let me recount my horrific experience at Mara's Med Spa. What was supposed to be a simple treatment for a tiny, dime-sized mark on my back has devolved into a nightmare of negligence, physical damage, and utter disregard for patient well-being. If you value your skin and your health, I implore you to read on and understand why Mara's Med Spa should be avoided like the plague.
From the outset, communication was a glaring issue. I meticulously pointed out the minuscule area on my back that required attention. Despite my clear and concise instructions, the esthetician proceeded to apply an aggressive chemical peel to an area several times larger than what we had agreed upon. This wasn't a minor oversight; it was a blatant disregard for my specific request and a terrifying indication of the incompetence that permeates this establishment.
The immediate aftermath of this unauthorized and excessive chemical peel was alarming. My skin reacted violently, exhibiting severe redness and an intense burning sensation that only worsened with time. What followed was nothing short of agonizing. My back developed raw, bleeding patches, a direct result of the overly aggressive treatment applied by the unqualified staff at Mara's Med Spa. The pain was excruciating, disrupting my sleep, my daily activities, and my overall quality of life.
The negligence displayed by Mara's Med Spa is simply inexcusable. Not only did they ignore my explicit instructions regarding the treatment area, but they also failed to perform a basic, yet crucial, skin test before applying a potent chemical peel. This fundamental step, standard practice in any reputable skincare facility, was completely overlooked, demonstrating a shocking lack of professionalism and a dangerous disregard for patient safety.
The consequences of Mara's Med Spa's negligence have been devastating. I am now dealing with the physical trauma of damaged skin, the emotional distress of knowing this was entirely preventable, and the ongoing discomfort of the irritation. The idea that a place purporting to enhance beauty could inflict such damage is frankly sickening.
Let my horrifying experience serve as a stark warning. Mara's Med Spa is not a place where you can expect professionalism, competence, or even basic adherence to instructions. They are a danger to your skin and your well-being. Do not make the mistake I did. Steer clear of Mara's Med Spa and entrust your skincare needs to a facility that values your health and safety above all else. You have...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI am extremely upset with the recent treatment I received patronizing this establishment. In the past five months, I've spent close to five thousand dollars in worth of services and membership fees. I have never missed a scheduled appointment although the scheduling team over booked and had to reschedule my treatment.
I had a scheduled appointment this week and unfortunately my elderly mother was rush in for emergency surgery. I texted the number the Spa team uses to communicate with asking to reschedule however, I didn't receive a response. Once my mother was stabilized, I noticed that I was charged $25 for not showing to my appointment. I contacted the spa to explain whatĀ happened and and asked if a "one time courtesy" would considering I had a medical emergency and have never missed an appointment.Ā Laura swiftly stated, No.
I asked Laura to then remove my card from them database and she responded that she would have to cancel all my upcoming appointments. The upcoming appointments that she's cancelling are ALL for services I've prepaid for. So you're telling me that I can not retain my PREPAID services because I don't want my card on file?! There is nothing owed on my services. I then requested to have all my prepaid services refunded along with the remaining treatment services she won't allow me to utilize. Laura stated only the Spa manager could assist with that request. I asked if she could advise the Spa manager to contact me by end of business the following day via email. Laura stated that she would send an email however, she couldn't guarantee a response.
What's interesting about this entire experience is that, I was advised via a phone call I made to the sister location that one time exceptions ARE allowed and extended to clients in event of an emergency. It pains me to think that the motivation behind the Uptown location NOT wanting to extend a one time courtesy is motivated by other unethical reasons. Mara needs to take a very serious look at how policies and regulations are operated at her facilities.
Hear we are, days later, and I have close to two thousand dollars worth of services that I can't use nor has anyone contacted to resolve this issue. This is the most unprofessional and discriminatory experience I've personally experienced patronizing a business. I will use every resource available to me to...
