The great thing about Wade College is that they have very engaging teachers and staff that actually cares about students needs and questions. Not one rude teacher besides 1 or 2 during my time here. Another great thing is general classes here were very easy. Class meets once a week, but if you need extra time with the professors you can come in during their hours that they are available the rest of the week. Honest review for Fashion Design… if you already have sewing experience, the course will feel very beginner as most students don’t even know how to sew or operate the industrial machines. Half the time the majority of the machines are not threaded or are broken because students do not care to upkeep it. Another downside to the Fashion Design course is that they only teach you standard size 8 for only women’s wear. You learn the foundation of how to construct using the mannequins in Draping class. I would have thought they would ask students what they want to make & then assist them from there, but no, everyone makes the same thing, with different variations in sleeves, lengths, collars, etc. If you are aiming to make “High” fashion runway clothes & want to work in the fashion industry, this college is for you. If you plan to make clothing for everyday wear & want to own your own business/clothing line, I suggest you continue with what you know & YouTube would be your best teacher. On the bright side I don’t regret my time here. There were a few things I learned that I didn’t know before, such as adobe illustrator/photoshop, learning how to make techpack & accurately reading sewing patterns. 6.5 out of 10 for me. The techpack teacher was changed to a new teacher that made it hard to grasp this important class, half the students were confused & didn’t want to speak up. Success of how well you will do is how much you apply yourself to any craft. If your whole heart is dead set on any dream you have, you’ll be successful. If you’re not sure, it will show...
Read moreAs a parent, I do not recommend this school for a student fresh out of high school. It is odd to me that the students have little say in making their schedule. Furthermore, the course schedules seemed to be based on the professors availability, or perhaps the school's convenience. For the most part, my daughter is happy with her professors and the content she is being taught. However, the program feels rushed, (crash course education) which is not good for one who is really trying to take their time to master their craft. For tuition to be so high, $485 a credit hour (currently), you would expect more and this school is just a bit too...
Read moreI recently graduated from Wade College with an AA in Fashion Design and I’m currently pursuing my BA at Wade. I love it here. Transferring to Wade was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. The staff is knowledgeable and help equip you with the skills needed to truly be successful in the work force. The courses are accelerated, however I never felt like I wasn’t gaining a thorough education. Wade college is very current in the way they approach teaching, and give you opportunities to start working in your field while attending the college. Success of the students is at the core of...
