Let me preface this review by saying that I have moved many times over the past 20 years, both on my own and using local movers, so I have experience with the process of moving. Unfortunately, this move was a frustrating and expensive debacle. While there are numerous examples of how this all went wrong, following are a few highlights: ⢠Inexperience: While the crew were very nice people, it was quickly apparent that they were quite inexperienced. One of the movers appeared to be very new, possibly their first job. As an example, this person did not know how to use a screwdriver and was removing screws using pliers (which they called âthe squeezy thingâ). The two others seemed to have some level of experience, but still did not know basics such as how to use straps to carry a mattress, etc. At one point, a passerby on the street ran over to correct one of them on how to safely use a hand truck on a ramp. They repeatedly asked us how they should load the truck. However, I made sure to take care of them throughout the day including providing bottled waters, Gatorade, and buying lunch. ⢠Poor handling, and unprofessional: They did not wrap or protect any of my furniture, even after saying that they would at the beginning of the move. As a result, several items were damaged. Further, they did not bring any tools with them and I had to supply the necessary tools (e.g., a screwdriver) to take apart the bedframes. I have never before seen professional movers who did not wrap furniture or bring tools with them. Further, there appeared to be some sort of dissent between two of the crew as they bickered over policies and procedures. ⢠Overcharged: I discussed some of my concerns over the phone with the owner, John, at the end of the move, which took much longer than expected and involved two trips (and still leaving items behind). He acknowledged that they should have wrapped and protected my furniture, but was fairly dismissive of my other concerns. He agreed to lower the rate and reduce the move time by one hour, which I accepted as I just wanted the whole thing to be done and over. Please note, the final move time and price were way over any that I have ever experienced in the past on similar moves. Also, I could not see the actual invoice at the end of the move as they were having me sign it electronically on their phone, and would magnify the screen to only highlight the part where I would sign â it was very confusing and I was never quite sure what I was signing, even after hearing a vague explanation from the crew member. However, when I received the final invoice a few days later, it was approximately $300 higher than the amount to which we agreed, with my debit card already charged. Further, I couldnât even make sense of how they arrived at the total on their invoice, as the numbers literally donât add up. ⢠Ignored their customer: After getting the invoice, I made several calls to the company which all went to voicemail, and also sent several emails, politely asking to discuss the invoice and find a resolution toward the amount we agreed to on the phone. It has now been over a week and I have received no communication from them. It feels as though they have my money and are now screening my calls and emails to avoid me, and I canât believe that any company would treat a customer this way. I have never before contacted a lawyer and donât know the first thing about how to go about taking legal action, but I donât know what else to do at this point as they are flat-out ignoring me. Again, it is possible that I just happened to get the most inexperienced crew members for my job, and that this is not overall reflective of othersâ experiences. But I cannot account for the company overcharging me and then repeatedly refusing to return my phone calls or discuss my concerns about discrepancies on the invoice. This is unprofessional as well as unethical, and I am at a loss as to how to resolve this issue with them â I hope that they may see this review and...
Read moreI chose this moving company after reading some of their positive online reviews. But, to say the least, Iâm incredibly dissatisfied with my experience. The âserviceâ I was provided was unprofessional, disorganized, inefficient, and poorly executed. It took the guys 6 hours to load the same items that only took 3 hours (travel time included) the last time I moved when I got help from Boulder All Star Movers... and they did a much better job.
The movers were scheduled to arrive between 10-12pm. At 11:20am, I was notified that one of the movers had a family emergency, and theyâd let me know âwhen and ifâ they could find somebody else to fill in. I waited for nearly 3 hours with no updates, and tried calling the office 3 times but nobody answered. I was supposed to leave for my cross-country move the next morning, so I was scrambling to figure out an alternative plan.
The office never called me back, but I finally heard from two guys who they were on their way â However, in hindsight, I probably wouldâve been better off if nobody had been able to fill in, because I couldâve asked a random person on the street to help me move, and they probably wouldâve done a better job. Hell, Iâm 5â0â and 100lbs and I couldâve done a better job.
When the guys arrived, it became clear they hadnât been told any details about my move, despite the extensive conversation I had with Lora regarding what I needed done when I booked. The guys were clearly not happy with the amount of work they had to do.
Before they began, I asked if theyâd please load my mattress first, followed by my wooden headboard, dresser etc. to protect the wood furniture from getting damaged. I also asked if they could use the pillows I provided to pad any furniture placed directly against the walls of the pod.
They didnât listen to either request. Instead, they loaded my wooden dresser and nightstand in the corner of the pod against two walls with no padding on either side. And, meanwhile, left other (unfinished) wooden furniture in the rain. I asked them multiple times to please make sure they didnât leave things in the rain or sitting on the wet ground, a request that also went ignored.
Then they dragged my tempurpedic mattress across the wet, dirty ground and tried to stand it upright in the center of the pod. (For anyone who hasnât tried to move a tempurpedic mattress before... theyâre heavy and floppy). The guys spent 20 minutes trying to keep the mattress from falling over, which wouldnât have been an issue if it had been loaded first... But, regardless, it shouldnât have taken 20 minutes to do.
Furthermore, they waited until the very end to load several large items, which they hadnât left space for â not because the pod was full, but because of the how things were organized/stacked. Due to this lack of foresight, they spent over an hour unloading and re-stacking things so these items could fit.
Overall, the guys were careless, incompetent, and extremely inefficient â they carried the boxes out one by one instead of using dollies to take larger loads each trip in/out, which easily took 3-4x as long as necessary. For $139/hr, I expect the movers to be as efficient and careful as possible. It felt like they were going as slowly as possible in order to make more money.
After they left, we opened the pod to check that everything was secured for transportation. To our dismay, several big and/or heavy items were precariously stacked and hanging a few feet above many other smaller/lighter/fragile things, which couldâve certainly gotten tossed around while in transit. I was shocked considering how long theyâd taken to reorganize everything. My boyfriend and I spent 30 minutes moving around as much stuff as we possible to minimize the risk of things falling, sliding around, or...
Read moreFirst of all, you need to visit Yelp for a more accurate description of how bad this company treats customers and their property. I would not recommend this company to my very worst enemy. Bobby and his helper came and started off on a positive note. I started noticing that they weren't reading what the boxes contained and continued stacking boxes on china or boxes that read "do not stack". I had asked at the beginning that they wrap everything. I don't have a lot of furniture but the pieces I do own are nice. They failed to wrap a velvet chair and threw it up in the back corner. The pod was half full before I noticed it. At the very end they put an $800 rocker unwrapped in the very front of the pod. I asked if they wouldn't mind wrapping it to which Bobby smart assly responded, "it's your time." Yes Bobby, it was my time. So he became frustrated and pulled the chair out on the road next to melted ice mud which got on the bottom of my chair. He continued to wrap it and didn't clean it off. He then reloaded the pod and carelessly packed a shelf that pressed against the chair on one side and a cubicle shelf on the other. The shelving unit was up off the ground about an inch. Do you think that's gonna last? No! Any human being would see that with any pressure something is going to break in that scenario. I didn't say anything though. I figured I'd fix it after they left since they were clearly eager to leave. He closed the doors and his helper went to the car without saying goodbye. Bobby then told me that he was really supposed to start charging me when he called which was 2 hours before he got there. He said he wouldn't though. Thanks Bobby. Thanks for not charging me for the time you didn't work. Really appreciate that. So I signed the phone thingy and said goodbye. He said nothing, turned around and walked away. Totally unprofessional. After they left, I opened the pod and immediately smelled gasoline. They had packed a can of gasoline in there! It was on the driveway. Who packs gasoline in a pod? It spilled and so I had to crawl through to get the gas can. As I climbed over the stuff I noticed a huge gap in the middle where things could definitely fall into. I called them the next morning and spoke with Brandon or a Brian who said he would call around and get two guys out to the pod to help me get to the things that gasoline had spilled on and to secure some of the areas better. He never called. Surprised but not really. I had to pay $75 to have the pod pickup rescheduled and I had to take an additional day of work off. A neighbor ended up helping me sort through the things but I was never able to get the gasoline drenched suitcase out because it was under two consoles. They did not make my move stress free. They were not polite. They were not kind to my things. I have attached pictures as evidence. I hope this company...
