Ok was reading through the reviews and kind of feeling the double standard — here’s a place that’s found the BEST balance of authenticity and price point IN DOWNTOWN just to get 4.3 stars? Nah. That’s ridiculous. Let’s break it down:
-wood ear mushrooms: AMAZING. Another reviewer was like “oh it was served cold but I looooved the sauce” like girlie IT’S SUPPOSED TO BE SERVED COLD. Was a decently sized pile of wood ear mushrooms for only about $3.99. Amazing sauce. Mind blowing. Definitely worth a try.
-pork belly noodle soup: FANTASTIC pork belly. Makes jinya’s pork belly in their tonkotsu taste like straight overcooked cardboard. This pork belly was way more seasoned, way softer, and the noodle soup had 4 HUGE pieces of pork belly for like $13?? Say less.
-soup dumplings: one of the places that actually delivers a REAL soup dumpling with actual soup in the dumpling. The wrapping was thin enough to be delicate but strong enough to hold the soup that you can actually slurp from. Truly did not expect this from a place called “chopstickers”. Amazing.
-water fried bao: not necessarily the most authentic but for the value for the money? Our table gobbled them up. The pork, chives, and shrimp were amazing. Bottom was so crispy and yummy. Would definitely order again.
-potstickers: actual real potstickers that don’t seem to be the frozen generic ones you see everywhere across Denver. Got the beef and definitely enjoyed it.
Tl;dr absolutely shook that there’s a restaurant in downtown slinging Chinese food that’s just authentic enough for Asians to be stoked about going but not so authentic it’s unapproachable for people who aren’t familiar with it. All for some of the best value for the money in downtown. Also saw jimmy o yang there so that’s pretty sick. Worth a visit whenever you’re...
Read moreIf you are a follower of my account you know that I very rarely give a 5-star rating straight across the board for any business. However, Chopstickers is amazing! I had a very busy day and was starving and found myself going downstairs in the Colorado building where I am located in, and walking directly outside into Chopstickers, they are located nextdoor in the Baldwin building. I love the vibe. It reminds me so much of LA! (And of course you know how much I love Los Angeles!) Anyway, the atmosphere is great. I arrived literally very late in the afternoon maybe 3:30 p.m. today. There were only a couple of customers at that late lunch hour. However, I am so thankful I arrived when I did because earlier during lunch rush they are busy. The young lady at the counter is very nice. She told me she's only been there a couple of months. She's doing an excellent job. I greatly appreciated her outstanding customer service, and helping me by explaining a couple of the items that I wanted to order. I took the food back upstairs, and enjoyed crocheting up my fingerless mittens that I'm working on, and the food was absolutely out-of-this-world fabulous! I can't even explain how amazing the food is. It was served hot obviously, the flavors were like magic in your mouth. The pot stickers were absolutely Divine. I got a beef pork combo. The vegetables and the noodles I think originally are a soup, however I didn't want soup just the noodles vegetables and the beef pork combo. Therefore, I really can't tell you the name of it because I don't know. I just know it was divine. If you have not been there, what are you waiting for?...
Read moreWe were impressed right out of the gate. Turns out that when you order online it’s only for their Fort Collins location which I didn’t realize. Thankfully they called immediately (they must have this happen a lot) and got the order sent to the Denver location. It’s been pouring rain, we are visiting from Phoenix, so the rain is not something we have experience with and driving in it is a bit stressful for me so we wanted to make sure we had enough food to last through the night…boy did we over order. We are used to smaller portions for a higher price so this was an amazing surprise. We got nearly 60 full sized dumplings with plenty of filling plus a mushroom side (amazing) and a seaweed side (which was honest to god seaweed and not that weird neon green stuff) for $80. Unfortunately we won’t be able to eat here again during our trip because we have enough dumplings for dinner plus all 3 meals tomorrow so I doubt I’ll have a craving for dumplings for a...
