Very very disappointed. I walk in and think what an amazing layout and store they have, disappointed in their selection. ONE hiking boot for women, good shoe but not for everyone. Was there for my boyfriends climbing shoes, popular La Sportiva Solution. They convinced him a 1/2 size larger than his previous pair would work fine. So he purchased them (WITH $30 IN TAX) and drove to rifle, put them on his feet, realized these will NOT work and just belayed me all day, hours later drove back to return and the lady would NOT return them because he TRIED them on OUTSIDE. She even looked at them and saw they were in just the same condition as when he left. He didn't even get to use them! I worked at a gear shop for 4 years and I know what is acceptable to return and what isn't. I know what can be put back on the shelf and what can't. He had the receipt and still no. He asked to talk to a manager and she lied about something her husband said when checking him out...he didn't even check my boyfriend out SHE DID. I understand supporting your coworkers but according to the receipt and their policy these were absolutely returnable. We used to buy all of our climbing gear here, Not anymore. I suggest you don't either. Not worth the tax either. So disappointed... horrific...

Wow! What a great experience I had at Summit Canyon Mountaineering. I came in with my daughter with no intention of purchasing anything for myself. I have a very hard time finding shoes that fit but the excellent employees (helpful, not hovering) displayed their knowledge about the best footwear for my issues. They were able to fit me with two pairs of shoes that were like music to my feet. We ending up buying shoes, rafting gear and clothing. I was so impressed by the staff. They were helpful, kind and professional. I just had to reach out to the store management and owner to let them know how great his employees were. Leah, Vaughn and Trevor made all the difference. Great products, great employees. I felt welcomed and valued as a customer. Their rewards program is awesome too. It's a terrific local business and an asset to the Glenwood Springs...

I'm traveling across the US, hiking and backpacking, and have been to dozens of outdoors stores for gear. Summit Canyon Mountaineering takes the win with a bullet! The staff was friendly and helpful the moment my dog and I walked through the door. I had gone to several other stores down I-70 and couldn't find a replacement buckle for my backpack, and they carried the exact buckle I needed and offered suggestions on getting a factory replacement. They have a large product offering of top quality clothing and a great assortment of dehydrated meals! There is a lower level which offered lots of sales items at generous discounts. I found a foot print that would fit my tent at more than 50% off! Special thanks to Joe for all his help and the scoop on hidden hot...
