My family and I joined Rise in mid July. We were searching for a gym around DTLA for my son who has previously done BJJ. I was also looking for a gym that I could join during the same hours as him. We found a couple options around the area and Rise was our last stop. We did feel a bit lost at first when we walked in because there wasn’t anyone at the desk at the moment and every coach was busy training a class. We walked over to see some guys sparring on the mats and that’s when Al came out and introduced us to Taylor. I’m sure Taylor was in the middle of working on something as well, but he stopped and took his time to explain how the gym worked, their hours, parking location, and pricing. He was very nice from the beginning. He gave us a bit of his background as well. After speaking with him, we knew this was the right gym. They offer different classes so we can all work on whatever we like. It may be a bit pricey to some, but we’d rather spend that money there than elsewhere like eating out every weekend and spending the same amount if not more. Every coach there has their own specialty which makes it great because we get different perspectives and learn from each one based on their experience. Another reason we’ve stayed is because everyone there is friendly...
Read moreI've been a member of Rise Athletics since November 2021, and I can confidently say that joining this gym has been one of the best decisions I've ever made. Over the past few years, Rise Athletics has not only helped me achieve my best physical shape but has also significantly improved my mental fitness.
From the moment I walked through the doors, I felt welcomed by the incredibly supportive and motivating community. The coaches are not only knowledgeable and skilled but also genuinely care about each member's individual progress. They tailor workouts to meet our needs and ensure we're always challenged and motivated.
Physically, I've seen remarkable changes in my strength, endurance, and overall fitness. The variety of classes keep the workouts exciting and effective. I never thought I'd look forward to working out as much as I do now!

Read moreAl, the owner of this place was very rude when I made a phone call to Rise. I live in DTLA and there was a young boy and his mother was stabbed at a Target (Fig at 7th Target). This made me very cautious. My friend told me he was going to meet me at 7.30pm and he was at Rise. I waited until 8pm, but he did not response. Of course I got worried and I knew he was at Rise, so I decided to make a call and ask if he was there. Al answered and I asked him if my friend was there. He said he is and I responded by saying okay thank you, if you don't mind please let him know I called and I explained who I am. Then he responded by saying "were not a messager service, dont call if you want me to relay messages". That wasnt the answer I was expecting. Afterwards I told my friend what happened and he confronted Al. Al then said "if your friend is hurt thats their problem" and then the worst part is he asked if I was Korean. I am in fact not Korean, but I am asian and my friend asked why did you assume that? And he said Korean women are crazy. Racist and rude. If you condone that kind of behavior and belief, go ahead and join...
