Kamaole Beach Royale — Local services in Maui

Our condo was very clean. The owners were super responsive and helpful the whole time we were there with some questions that arose. We had postponed during COVID and they honored our reservation a year later. Carl & Linda in Suite 201 so if you rent I recommend them. Found them on VRBO. Lanai was awesome to sit and watch the sun set. Loved the patio upstairs for grilling and even better views. The pool was ok- nothing spectacular but with the beach across the street who really needs it? So close to restaurants and a few shops, the grocery store, etc. The air conditioner in our living room was wonky and didn’t cool the main area well and the one bedroom stayed hot. Other bedrooms were fine.

Here is the negative. We were very adamant about taking trash out everyday and recycling. There were 6 of us. On the last day when we cleaned out the fridge and our bathroom garbages, etc we had 3 bags of trash & recyclables. Some guy that works there (maintenance I believe) yelled at my 2 best friends and told them they should have taken out trash more often, supposed to take it everyday, and “oh you finally decided to take out the trash” and “we don’t want your damn balled up paper bags to recycle. Only if they are flat. Throw those away” and a few other snide comments. Like really gave them a hard time and we had literally taken trash out everyday. We were cleaning up to check out! He also YELLED at my friend for moving a chair from the pool to where there was sun near the parking lot. She just wanted to sun bathe her last few hours there & the pool area was completely shady. He also made a nasty remark in the elevator to her. I spoke with an owner that lives there and she won’t even speak to him as he’s been mean to her. Because of this they get a low rating from me. We paid a lot of money for 8 days there and spent thousands on the island to be treated like garbage by the worker there. And this was the day after my wedding and we were so happy & he really made me mad. I didn’t want to be mad in Hawaii. I had told Carl & Linda I would stay there again but after that I won’t be back- It was that bad and I’m not sensitive.

The staff was great and very friendly. The grounds were well kept and closeness to the water was awesome. My review pertains to the building itself. We were in unit C102 2 bedroom. We had a portable AC unit in one bedroom upstairs and one in main area downstairs. The second bedroom upstairs had just a fan. It was hot in that bedroom you wouldn't be able to even sleep and so glad we didn't have anyone with us. The portable AC unit was so loud in the other bedroom and you could hear the roosters crowing, traffic noise, and people outside at ABC store next door on top of that loud AC noise. We never got a decent nights sleep. The bed in that room was horrible too. It creaked so loud when you got in/out of bed or just moved, so I recorded the noise just for other people to hear. I have never heard a bed being so loud. The upstairs bathroom was also so hot, due to there being a skylight in the ceiling. Why would you put that in a place with the weather so warm is beyond me. Once you showered you didn't want to stay in bathroom that long just because of the heat. We stayed first week of January in this unit and I can't imagine how it would be in the summer. Sleeping in the other bedroom wasn't an option because the fan in there didn't help one bit so we just kept our luggage in there and that was bad enough being in there to just get at that. I would never do an exchange into this resort again unless they installed central air and I doubt that will ever happen. The location was perfect! The property managers Rose and Vince were amazing. We loved the spacious lanai. The location was excellent. Walking distance to everything you needed. Lots of shopping and restaurants nearby and a gelato/shave ice stand. There are at least 2 grocery stores nearby and one a little further away (Safeway) which was my favorite. The drive from the airport in Kahului wasn’t bad, probably 30 minutes tops. The view can’t be beat! Every floor has a great view of the ocean, except for maybe the 1st or 2nd floor. I liked being able to travel the island so I did rent a car. The pool was great. My niece and I had a great time in the pool but we liked the beach better. Mornings are better since the beach is less windy. The beach is a short walk away from the condo and the street has a special light when crossing the road. Cars have to stop to allow you to cross so it felt very safe. EVERYONE at the complex and everywhere we went were sooooo friendly. They are not kidding when they talk about Aloha attitude on the islands. The condo was stocked with absolutely everything we needed; chairs, plenty of beach towels, boogie boards, a cooler, etc. The inside was stocked with all the essentials and the rooftop grills and seating area were amazing to watch the sunset from.
