This was a total bait and switch. I asked for firm Lomi Lomi. First the gave me some who dug her thumbs into my most painful spots. When I said, “this is not Lomi Lomi” she said, “I have to warm up your body “. I told her Lomi is smooth and rhythmic using oil. Not thumbs. She stopped and put some oil on my back so lightly it was just annoying. I said, I asked for firm.” She said, just be patient “. I ended the massage which was obviously going to be 90 minutes of Not Lomi or firm or anything resembling what I requested. They wanted to save the session so they gave me to Jamie. Jamie gave me a very nice Swedish with her forearms which I’m sure she was trying to mimic Lomi but had not been trained in it. I appreciated the Swedish but again, not what I asked for or what was promised. She eventually said she wanted to take the Lomi class but wasn’t sure where to go. I recommended the course at ho’omana. Which has an excellent program. I know because I took it years ago. I’ve been doing massage for 35 years. My biggest pet peeve is people doing treatments they’re not trained to do. If you haven’t had the training, don’t pretend to do it. If fraud. There’s no integrity. Bodywork is a sacred contract between giver and receiver. Have enough respect for your customers and yourself to live and practice in integrity. I'm a flight attendant and obviously, I travel a lot. On one of my layovers in Maui, I went for a walk and spotted this Spa which had recently opened. That day, a complimentary introductory chair massage was offered right in front of the Spa. I stopped and those few minutes got me hooked!
I booked a massage for that afternoon. I enjoyed it very much and the next time I returned to Maui, I went back.
I've visited this spa several times since and at times, even wait to get to Maui instead of booking a massage at home.
The owner Katrina is a sweetheart; although I've never visited the other location in Lahaina/Kaanapali/Napili/Honokowai/Kahana, I'm sure it's just as wonderful as the one I go to.
Each therapist I've had a massage with was excellent and not chatty. I was left to BE and enjoy every second of the experience.
On a last note: I was very pleased that when I submitted my receipt to my Canadian Insurance company, the "treatment" was paid for: so no excuses...

Read moreSmall place. Communication extremely difficult as my therapist couldn't speak English well. Even though I asked for a firmer massage twice she actually just touched every spot at some point. It did not feel like a real massage, though. She also smelled of cigarettes and used far too much oil. Her hair often touched my face which was very unpleasant. The massage did not seem to follow any structure nor any symmetrical principles. The relaxing music in the background was okay, but stopped several times abruptly. You could hear the receptionist talking loudly on the phone whilst I was trying to relax in the treatment room. In the end the receptionist pressed for a gratuity. That he did with every customer. All in all the worst treatment I got so far. Go to a bigger spa in the vicinity. Same prices, better service!
