This place has a lot of good things going for it but it just needs a little bit of improvement. It was nice to see some Mexican staples along with some Hawaiian influenced items. I was pleasantly surprised to see chilaquiles as one of the daily specials. Everything my partner and I tried had wonderful flavor and one of the salsas had great heat that we haven’t found anywhere else around here. What’s lacking is in how the food is cooked. It was obvious that things are cooked at a lower temperature so the steak had no sear, the tacos lacked color and texture, and the quesadilla was not crispy. The rice (both flavors) could use some improvement as well but that’s not unusual.

Don't listen to all the people who gave this place one Stars they're obviously not from around here and they obviously think that this is some sort of five-star restaurant that they're supposed to be ritzing it up like a movie star... This is a taco shack it's inexpensive and an extraordinarily delicious period if you don't understand that then you don't understand that you're on the beach at Maui . If you want something that is very expensive and you have to wear a suit and tie I would invite you to go back to the kaanapali Ali and put on your suit and tie! For the rest of us will enjoy the taco shack and our delicious food... That's just more for us less for you jerks!

During our stay on Maui, we stumbled upon this gem of a Mexican restaurant, and it quickly became our daily go-to spot. I must say, it surpassed all expectations and easily ranks as the best Mexican food I've ever had. Each dish was bursting with flavor, and the authenticity of the cuisine transported us straight to Mexico. From the hearty burritos to the flavorful tacos, every bite was a delight. The staff was friendly and welcoming, adding to the overall enjoyable dining experience. If you're on Maui and craving some exceptional Mexican fare, do yourself a favor and pay this restaurant a visit. You won't be disappointed!

We were trying to find a quiet place to grab a bite near our stay and walked into this shopping center. Next door there was a line for the sushi and this hole in the wall, so we decided to try it. Staff was super friendly as we walked in, just two of them. Basically a take out joint, but seating in the courtyard. We ordered a couple items to eat there and relax and asked if we could have them make food for a take out order on the same ticket and they did without problem. They timed our take out to bring home to family perfectly. The food was super good, organic, fresh, local ingredients. I ordered the Upcountry burrito. The flavors are certainly unique to Maui and nothing close to what I would expect back in California. The ginger fried rice is really what caught my eye, and boy am I glad I gave this a shot. The combo of the ginger rice, slaw, pork and beans was so good and I can't remember the last time I had a burrito tasting so fresh. And these are sharing size! My wife ordered the Mahi burrito. Once again, big size burrito super fresh tasting. Their sauces are great, and the cabbage still has a nice crunch to it. The chips and salsa they provided for us to eat "here" were nice too, really good salsas. We also got a garlic shrimp burrito to bring back to my sister in law, she had been really enjoying similar items around the island. It was ridiculously good. Even our daughter who generally didn't like other garlic shrimp was nomming Auntie's burrito. Great food, really friendly staff, easy to grab a bite and wish we'd...

We stopped here for dinner and had a very enjoyable meal. The Nachos were excellent. The Baja Chicken and Baja Steak Plates were great as well. You get a lot of food for the money.

The restaurant is somewhat hard to find as it is tucked back behind some other shops in a recessed corner of the strip mall. The ordering area was clean. The decor was simple. There is a parking lot that is shared with the other businesses, and there is also street parking in the area.

The lady that took our order was very friendly. The food did take a little while to prepare, but they were very busy when we arrived. The restaurant only has outdoor tables in a covered area in front of the entrance. The picnic table that we sat at was infested with bugs so we wound up taking the food to go. The tables had a ton of food debris in between the boards and they need to be power-washed.

The food was really good and you got a full meal for the price. I would definitely eat here again, but will remember to order...

As a former resident, who believes he's eaten here before, I hate to say that our dishes were rather bland (as I think another reviewer noted).

I could not taste the cilantro in the rice and everything could have been GREALTY improved with a couple dashes of salt.

Not a chef, nor a hater, it just really had no taste. A dash of spice......cilantro, splash of acid (lime/lemon), salt, pepper, etc., could have made this really pop. I seriously stopped at Safeway to get a salt shaker to keep in the car after this.

The chips were made on the spot in the deep fryer and pretty good, but again, just a hint of salt would have been nice.

If the owner reads this, maybe even offer a "Jawz" option, adding more salt, pepper, lime, cilantro...something, just to bring out the flavors.

Nice people and good customer service, food just needs a...
