Showed up at 5:21 on a Friday for kids bowl free and the incompetent manager, Tom, and employee, Jack, would not honor Kids Bowl Free that on the coupons and app says are good today from open-6pm. They absolutely refused to honor the games without âthe button on the cash registerâ allowing it. They have effectively lost our business and we would have paid for shoes and 2 games for 2 adults every week for at least the rest of the summer.
We went 6 min further to Capri Bowl and had a wonderful experience. The kids loved the early evening glow bowl and volume on the music was perfect. The staff had clearly showered and were friendly (canât say the same for the Poelking). The price for a lane for an hour that includes shoes was the same as we would have paid for 2 adults for 2 games and 3 shoe rentals at Poelking. The lanes at Capri were nice with automatic bumpers that are selected for only the bowlers who need them, not for the entire group. The fries and onion rings at Capri were fresh, perfectly cooked, and well seasoned with a good sized portion. In contrast, at Poelking last week (our first and last time ever there), the crinkle fries did not even have salt and they gave us only a handful of fries, not even enough to fill one kid. Capri...
Read moreFake reviews, those talking about how modern this bowling alley is. Donât believe any of them, because they arenât true.
The first lane we were on had technical malfunctions not detecting the ball and scoring/setting pins. The staff was quick to move us off, and they were kind and courteous.
The bowling alley itself is pretty much stuck in the 90s like the rest of South Dayton. Literally âCopyright 1999 Brunswickâ makes this bowling alleyâs software 20 years old at a minimum. CRT TVs show the scores with 90s âexciter graphicsâ and bowling balls look like theyâve been through a war zone. The lanes are in great condition; however, it stops there.
We went home smelling like a fry cook. Immediately when we walked in we were greeted with burning grease smell. Should have just left before getting shoes.
Lastly, stupid expensive. Something like $5 per bowler, PER GAME. At those rates this place couldâve been torn down and rebuilt twice, but it hasnât. Two games and three bowlers, which is hardly entertainment, costs almost $42 including shoe rental. Full disclosure: they have a great military discount which we took advantage of; however, when the clerk told us the regular price for two games I was close to...
Read moreI would give them 0 if I could. Iâve never had problems with this place in the past but I went there and paid almost $60 for 2 hours to play which I already thought was steep but I continued. On my second game problems started to arise. My cousin and I arenât very good at bowling so we would roll gutter balls and it would give us 2 pts instead of the 0 it was supposed to give us. I then complained about the problem and the worker told me I needed to reset the pins. I do this and it does not fix it. I then go up to complain again and he says itâs my fault because I did not erase the score which he did not tell me to do. So I go back do everything correctly. This he could not deny. He the tells me when I ask for some kind of reimbursement that I needed to calm down (I was being very calm and collected) and that he would move me to another lane and give me an additional 30 mins although at this point Iâd already wasted at least an hour. He then clears out all of the scoring in our game (something Iâve already done and moves us to a different lane. This once again did not fix the problem and no reimbursement was given. Extremely...
