AARMY sets the standard for group fitness globally. This isn't just a workout—it's a culture, a mindset, and a community built on commitment, discipline, and excellence. The instructors are world-class, fully committed to the method, and lead by example. They don't just coach; they train alongside you, pushing everyone to be their strongest selves. The passion here is evident in every detail—from how classes are structured to the energy in the room.
Akin's influence is undeniable. I started taking his SoulCycle classes ~10 years ago and was immediately drawn to his intensity, music, high standards, and focus on fundamentals. I've been to over 200 of his classes, mostly cycling, and his philosophy is evident: strong foundations prevent injury and lead to real progress. AARMY has evolved far beyond just him, though—every coach is exceptional, and the team is the real deal.
The cycling and bootcamp classes are designed by athletes, for athletes. Bootcamp blends weight training (like Barry's) with calisthenics and yoga for flexibility, creating a well-rounded approach. The workouts are intense, and the community is dedicated—some might find it intimidating at first, but don't be afraid. Everyone is focused on their own progress, and the atmosphere is competitive in the best way.
Beyond the workouts, the studio is top-notch—cutting-edge spin bikes, a sleek but functional space, and high-end amenities in the changing rooms and bathrooms. I also love that they have foam rollers available. The multi-gear bikes were the first I'd seen, and the attention to detail here is next level. The music is world-class and constantly evolving. AARMY's swag is everywhere, and you'll quickly notice the loyalty—people live in their AARMY gear. The clientele mixes downtown creatives and serious athletes, creating a uniquely cosmopolitan but authentically athletic vibe.
AARMY is a microcosm of what appeals to me about NYC: open-minded, hard-charging people who love the cutting edge and give 150% to everything they do. The passion here is evident; this place is a beacon of the champion's mindset.
AARMY isn't just another fitness studio—it's a family business built on love, talent, and loyalty. It can be challenging to get into classes, but if you're serious about training and in NYC, this is as good as it gets. Will remain a loyal client forever. Keep innovating and...

Read moreI really wanted to love this class. But my personal experience was frankly, quite miserable. I've been an avid spin cycle goer for 3 years now, and am by no means a beginner. In all the classes i've been to before, the instructor stays on the bike and clearly gives you instructions on what to do - they cue you in, they count, they give names for the moves they expect you to follow. The instructor for this class did none of that. He expected us to just know what to do with no instructions on the hand movements whatsoever and yes, maybe the front row all managed to do it after many classes with him, but how is that a fun or even doable class at all for someone new to AARMY? I'd have much preferred if he spent some time at least before class or in between each song to demonstrate all the moves himself, before expecting us to join in right at the start. He was also off the bike 75% of the time, which made it extremely hard to follow just looking at the person in front.
Other than that, the bikes are new, studio is clean, locker room area was pleasant, and front desk was extremely friendly. The energy of the other riders was lovely and they'd turn around to give each other high fives.
Unfortunately, however, I'd rather spend my money elsewhere where i can get some proper guidance and instructions. A workout class is meant to be challenging, yes, but it's also supposed to leave you with a sense of achievement which is frankly not possible unless you've been to 100 AARMY...
