Duane Reade — Local services in New York

This store has some convenient stuff, but it's always dirty and run down looking. Everything is locked up (even laundry soap) and it takes a long time for anyone to come and help once you've rung a bell for someone to unlock the case. I only used to come here in emergency situations. Also most of the cashiers are nice, but today I experienced something that has made me decide to never shop here again. To me, customer service is paramount. Stores should treat their customers with respect. An extremely rude clerk decided to make faces at me and make a big huff today. She got impatient as I was getting change to pay. She made faces at me, sighed sarcastically, held her hand out waving it around for me to hurry up-- ridiculing me. It didn't even take that long, I was just grabbing 13 cents!! Then she didn't even say thank you, took the change, shook her head (does nobody pay with cash anymore??? There wasn't even anyone behind me in line), and walked away as I said thank you TO HER as I always thank clerks. There are much better places in the area and i started buying most of my household stuff online anyway. It shows right up at my door and is cheaper than this place. Will never shop here again and will be warning people not to come here too.

*also the doors are broken. They have moved super slow for months and sometimes don't...

Someone was hurt by the very entrance of the store leaving it full of coagulated streams of blood. To get into the store, customers had to maneuver around the blood and flies feeding on it. It was a hot summer evening, the smell was disgusting because some people had stepped on the blood, leaving footprints on the carpet at the entrance of the store. I called the attention of the situation to the cashier and his answers was: "We don't suppose to deal with that." If Duane Read employee are oriented not to clean putrefying human blood from the entrance of the store when a violent inciden had occurred, that violates the bound between the store and the community Duane Reade suppose to serve. More than that, it shows the lack of human decency of Duane Read employees. Duene Reade employees should be aware that spattered blood at the entrance of the store signified that an act of violence had occurred in the community. Perhaps por them that kind of spectacle is something common in their lives, but for me who live in the neighborhood it was something I had never seeing. It was disgusting, not just for he putrefying blood, but for the indifference of the Duane Reade employees. And for the cashier that showed such indifference to my complaint I shroud say that, when you lose your sensitivity you also lose your identity and...

I never ever write reviews but THIS WAS THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EXPERIENCE. Don’t even waste a second of your time. I’m pregnant and so extremely nauseous. I went to the end where the pharmacy is and asked the woman in scrubs behind the counter in the pharmacy where the seabands are, she stuck her hand up and pointed (as if to tell me that they are under her counter) like she couldn’t speak. I am standing there looking for 5 mins and she is standing there fully aware that I can’t find them. MIND YOU I AM PREGNANT and She knows that seasbands are used by pregnant women to cure nauseau. Then she is like “you don’t see it” I said no I don’t see them and she whispers something to her co worker and they both laughed. I just left because you are not doing me a favor for doing your job at this drug store. She wasn’t even a pharmacist, with all the attitude of a damn neurosurgeon. Off to cvs I go. SERIOUSLY, walk up the block to west 59th and 10th and go to CVS. The cashiers down to the manager are so caring and so helpful. The manager at CVs Walked around with me until I found my sea bands. Hire competent and friendly staff. Never going to DUane...
