mio Head Spa — Local services in New York

I booked this place on a whim after having lunch and I am so glad I did! My favorite part of getting my hair cut is the shampooing/conditioning so I knew I'd love this.

Make sure to bring your ID, the security guard scans it at the door which made me feel extra safe :) The head spa is on the 6th floor, turn left off of the elevator and walk straight ahead through the glass door. They provide lockers that you keep the key for during the service, they were large enough to hold my huge tote from Amazon and a sweatshirt.

Sakiyo took such great care of me and everyone that I interacted with was so kind. I got the essential package which was 45 minutes but felt like so much longer (in the best way possible!). I was offered a blanket and the service is provided in a cozy comfortable chair. A soft towel is placed over your eyes so you can go to your happy place. If you really want to zone out, perhaps ear plugs or AirPods would be useful, but I was able to relax (and nearly fall asleep a few times) without either of those things.

I will definitely return next time...

Highly highly recommend this place for an authentic japanese head spa treatment. I did the mio essential and blow dry with Yuri.

Yuri was very experienced & massaged my scalp so nicely that I was so relaxed & dozed off. I love the steaming process and the scalp massages. I also love that the products they use (milbon) are made in japan & they smell so nice and made my scalp so clean & my hair smell so nice!

Yuri does some excellent blow drying and styled my hair so nicely. It was one of the best blow dry & styling of my hair so far.

Excellent service & the japanese salon was very clean & stylish.

After doing some research for a head spa before travelling to NYC, I booked an appointment for a mio essential and a blow out afterwards. It takes a lot for me to forget things in my active brain and it’s very hard for me to relax. I’m always thinking about work and my to do list. I have never relaxed the way I did during my appointment at Mio. The head spa treatment was out of this world. The blowout afterwards was so beautifully done. I would travel to NYC just for this head treatment...
