Strand Nail — Local services in New York

I am staying at a hotel just 3 blocks from here and passed it while walking and decided to pop in… wish I had read reviews first. Makes sense now why in such a busy city there was not a single customer inside.

They had me pay before they did the service which is odd but I’m here on business, not from around here and assumed maybe that’s the flow of things here. She demanded I tip… mind you this is before the service is even done. How do I know how much I want to tip if I haven’t seen the quality of the work? Ridiculous. They don’t speak English at all, which made communication frustrating to say the least… I am first generation American, my own family barely speaks English but if you’re going to work in customer service I feel you should have some understanding of the language. They charged me $1 for top coat? In all my years getting manicures/pedicures I have never once been charged for a clear top coat. It is overall quite possible the worst manicure I’ve ever seen in my life. Zero pride in the finished product. I could have painted it better myself. All I wanted was a basic polish manicure and I didn’t think it was possible to mess that up but the pain job is streaky, doesn’t cover my full nail bed…. Just awful.

Do yourself a favor and go into cvs next door and buy your own polish. It will be...

Debbie took 60 minutes to do a dip filling. I had a fresh set put on 2 weeks ago, and yet I spent my entire lunch period there. Her coworker came over and did my entire left hand, and in 60 minutes she couldn’t finish 5 fingers. I paid my $48 and told them I’ll be back at 3, got there at 3 on the nose, a lady walks up n asks if I’m waiting I say yes and they took her for a manicure and left me waiting. I complained, Debbie got loud and I politely put her in her place. She starts my nails I wanted a French design they said $11 more I was like what’s my discount for the inconvenience, they said they usually charge $20. I said ok and proceeded to put my hands forward to get it polished, they start speaking their language and insist that I pay before I get polished. I said no, you wasted my entire lunch hour, made have to come back at 3, you didn’t take me til 3:30, now insisting that I must pay you as if I’m gonna run off. Nah sis, I have integrity I’ll pay you for your service. I won’t come back, but I’ll pay you. GTFOH I’m too chubby to run anywhere, and too cute for jail....

If I can give no stars I would. I’m literally taking time while on vacation to review this salon. I asked for a gel mani and regular pedi. Was told one price by a women then when I went to pay I was told another price. They claimed that the nail polish that changes colors is ten dollars more. When I was shown that particular kind no one told me there was an increase in price. There was also no price listings on the wall so after some time they gave me the cheaper price. Three days after getting my gel mani I have two gel nails that peeled right off and two nails that have chiped. Two of my toe nails have no nail polish on them. It came clean off. Don’t waste your money with this place. P.s. They will awkwardly harass you for a 15% tip. Not to mention they cut my big toe nail to much. I came out looking like a little girl.
