Taryn Brows — Local services in New York

I had an eyebrow waxing appointment today at Taryn Brows. I was about 20 min late. I drove over an hour from Staten Island. When I mapped my trip it didn’t account for built up traffic on labor day weekend so I was late. I called them at 11:12 to tell them I was running late and no one answered. I show up and I was greeted very nicely until I told her I was late. That completely changed her tone with me as if my business and money were now not valued because I was late. She yelled at me asking me if I called. I said I called at 11:12, and because I called pass my grace period by two whole minutes I was now given the choice too wait an infinite amount of time or pay a cancelation/no show fee even though I was there! I ask them if they are serious? I drove over an hour, I’m a repeating customer who’s never late, an eyebrow wax takes 5 min! They didn’t squeeze me in because they didn’t want to. I told them it’s fine, that I’ll never go back there and that they weren’t all that good anyway (they’re not). I had the most awful lash lift done there - luckily they actually acknowledged what a poor job it was and they refunded me my money. They messed up my brows a couple of times but I continued to give them a try typically on special occasions because they are so pricey. But I’m willing to pay for quality work and excellent customer service which they failed to provide. I understand the cancellation policy but what ever happened to actual customer CARE and understanding. I drove over an hour, was a repeating customer, and was never late. I have been following Taryn Brows on Instagram for more than a year now. I see the beautiful work they do for their clients. I had enough of going to these threading salons growing out my eyebrows to then walk out with them thin again. So I finally decided to make an appt on Wed with Elsie. I had so many questions to which she answered and made me feel comfortable. She first asked me how have I been doing my eyebrows, how often, and what I am expecting. I told her I want them as full as possible as well as giving them as much shape. So she then traced my eyebrow to how they should be, started to wax and tweeze them. Then showed me where I need to allow them to grow more and gave me a tip as to how to help my eyebrows grow. She then asked me if I wanted to tint my eyebrows in which I hesitated to do so because I don't wear makeup and I didn't want my brows to be so dark and noticeable. So I allowed her to tint them and I loved them. Apparently, I had small hairs that were light and I didn't know were part of my eyebrow that helped with the shape formation. When I got home I noticed I had to get used to now having darker and fuller eyebrows because I was used to having lighter and thinner eyebrows. I would say a day later I was used to it. After visiting Taryn Brows, I believed in my eyebrows again.

I literally have the most unruly, untamable and unmanageable brows ever. I have tried dozens of people and it’s just difficult for them to get it or understand. Before quarantine I had finally found a spot but it closed down.

Once salons finally opened up, I knew I needed to find a reputable spot, and came across Taryn Brows, and they lived up to that reputation.

Booking was easy, booked online. Checking in was also easy, the receptionist immediately acknowledges you and checks you in. The place is very clean, and trendy.

I get my brows done with Leticia and she’s amazing. She takes her time to shape your brows, and she tints them perfectly to your desired darkness. She is so gentle and kind and attentive of you. She really takes her time and not once did I feel like she has rushed me out (as many places do), actually all of the ladies take their time to really give you what you need. They’re all so detail oriented when it comes to working on your eyebrows which is greatly appreciated!
