Man this is a hard one. I collect and love all board games. I have spent so much money on cardboard and plastic over the years that it's hard for me to dislike any game store.
Service: First off, they are great. When I walked in I was greeted with a smile and a welcome. And then while I was walking around I was asked if I needed any help or any suggestions.
Selection: If you are after something gaming and nerd related, and you couldn't find it in here you are doing something wrong. They had something for everyone from Eldritch Horror for the hard-core Cthulu fans to Mouse Trap for family gamers, as well as a plethora of MTG and Pokémon cards and much more!
Price: ehh, here's where I am conflicted. I went in searching for Tiny Epic Galaxies. There isn't a whole lot that I haven't collected at this point but I've never picked that up. And they had it! I grabbed it up and flipped it over and.... 32 dollars? OK not terrible, the game retails brand new 35 dollars from Gamelyn Games directly on their site.... for the kickstarter edition with expansions included which this one wasn't. A new base edition sells for 30 dollars from the manufacturer. Also at the time of this review Walmart and Amazon both have it for sale for 27 dollars, which I sadly ended up going with. Look, I love supporting my FLGS when I can. But that isn't a reason for me to purchase a product at a higher rate than big box stores and even the publisher. I noticed a lot of the other board games in the store were priced in the same structure but some were priced at the rate one would expect. I did not look at any of the MTG or other card prices and maybe that's where they cut the deals. In a time where a Big Mac meal costs 17 dollars it just doesn't seem logical.
Would I go back to this store, probably not. Should others go check it out for themselves? Absolutely! They seemed super friendly and had plenty of things to pick from so if you are having trouble finding that out of print game they might have it for you here, just at a slightly...
Read moreFirst of all, let me do this: For all the whiners out there that rated one star because you were asked or told to wear a mask; grow up. As a private business, they can set their own guidelines for the store.
Secondly, Cassidy was nothing but enthusiastic and polite the entire time I was there. I brought in some older cards that I was looking to sell and he gave me fair prices per TCG player. Did I get what I was hoping to get for them? No, because as private sellers we don't have to worry about clearing a certain amount of profit. Did I get what I expected? More or less. He offered me a lot more than I expected in store credit, but there were only a few things I found that I just couldn't live without. I will absolutely do business with him again and I think that after buying my cards from me, he and I have a fairly decent understanding of what the other expects.
Thirdly, one way I, as a collector, can judge how someone will treat my property is the condition there own stuff is in. If you try to trade or sell me ragged out cards, comics, or whatever, don't think for a moment that I'm going to let you handle my stuff. Cassidy is the same way, and I respect that. Without asking, he handed me his "more expensive stuff" to look through. I handled them like they were mine. And by that, I meant I took care of them.
Finally, I almost always post pictures of the places I review, but Gamer's Link has a no photos rule and, instead of whining about it and throwing a hissy fit, I respected their rules. Trust me when I say I have rarely seen a more diverse and interesting selection of games. I could spend days in there reading up on all the different types of games and months playing even a single game of each. All in all, I had a great time talking to Cassidy and I'm confident in saying we were both satisfied with our...
Read moreThis by far was a great experience for me, my wife, and my daughter. As soon as you walk in you get greated with such nice hospitality, as a place that sells anything should do! The greatest thing about this was how welcoming they were and helpful they were. Bought a nice little amount of stuff. The employees had great manors and made you feel not just welcome, but made you feel wanted. Not because of money. Because you got to feel like family when you were there. I highly recommend this card/game shop to anyone. I live in Virginia and I would drive from Virginia to this store just because it's that good of a experience and that good of selections. So many selections to choose from. Stickers, coasters, magic, yugioh, pokemon Warhammer, dnd, board games. This place has it all. If the owner of the store reads this know that I just came in not even an hr ago with the wifey and daughter. My Lil girls name is liliana. Even treated my wife and daughter with such nice tender love and care. I will be doing everything within my power to try to come back every time I can with my friends, family, including my children. You all have done so well and thank you for this experience. Price of everything to me was fair including singles and collectors singles. Real players will know the difference. Iconic collectors cards and games as well. This is the game store in pigeon forge. Have not been to the other ones but if I did go to the other ones I'd hope they would have the same credentials as these guys and gals. 100% this place is over 9,000 great job great place...
