I've been to a few of the Caffè Umbria locations around town. I came to this one to study and had to leave within the hour. I'm not sure if it's because it's basically made of glass so it seemed louder, but the baristas were soooo loud. My headphones were turned up all the way and I could still hear them. One of their friends (I'm assuming) was sitting at a table and they were all chatting really loud. I usually like seeing coworkers enjoying themselves and having a good time. And to be fair, they were very nice (which isn't true of a lot of baristas in town lol) even if they got a few things wrong with my order (to go cup when I said dine in, forgot about my food until I asked about it, wrong ice level). I probably won't come back to study or work because of that, plus the coffee and food was just kinda mid, not that great. Price was about average for Portland.
The metal seats weren't comfortable for staying that long, the free wifi was nice, but there's not a lot of outlets and overall the space isn't large. It was nice that it was decently busy and cause of the nice weather, most of the tables outside were occupied.
I don't think there's a restroom, but I'm pretty sure you can use the plaza one, which you might need to take the escalators...
Read moreWas looking for a coffee shop with a outside seating in downtown area. While ordering my medium americano, I noticed that large was the same price so asked for large instead of medium but it seems that the barista was too busy chatting w her coworker and gave me a medium so I asked for large and she poured it into a larger cup and added some more hot water making it a watery "coffee." The water coffee did not taste good.
If you know good coffee, I would not recommend this place, you make a...
Read moreGreat neighborhood coffee shop located beside the Keller Auditorium and Fountain... with equally great outdoor seating. Inside can get a bit noisy at times, but the friendly, attentive staff definitely make up for it. Food/snack choices are limited... it's a coffee shop after all! BTW, the coffee is really good and is served with a piece of wrapped chocolate! If you're Downtown Portland, it's well...
