I’m genuinely disappointed in my experiences with Lorena, the program manager in the Savannah area. Her demeanor came across as surprisingly curt and dismissive, which felt completely at odds with the values and welcoming spirit that the Girl Scouts—and this region—are known for.
During a visit to the council shop on Victory Drive, I overheard her openly criticizing certain Girl Scout cookies in front of visitors. Not only was this unprofessional, but it showed a surprising lack of discretion and pride in the very program she represents. Interactions like these, especially in a public setting, do not inspire confidence in her commitment to the mission.
Lorena’s approach to communication is off-putting, and it’s difficult to see her as someone who fosters a positive or trustworthy environment. For someone in a leadership role, particularly one that serves youth and families, that’s a serious concern.
