Short Street Espresso — Restaurant in Brisbane City

Experienced the most below average customer service today from your wait staff. We were clearly waiting at the counter to be served but your staff felt it more important to stand around and chat, once we did finally get service the red haired women who served us was beyond unpleasant and could barely bring herself to smile or even be polite but had no problem throwing a sarcastic and unwarranted comment our way about how we should be able to hear our names be called to collect our coffees instead of just providing us with a table number…. Then when I went to collect our coffees, as rudely advised by your server, the barista was just as unpleasant and unapproachable (blonde short hair). I don’t have the highest of expectations from your staff (based on previous experience), however some basic niceties and approachability would be greatly...

Im a barista and I came in for a coffee with my mum on Thursday Morning, instead of pouring in my caramel syrup with the espresso shot it was poured in after the milk was added which then doesn’t create as pleasant of a coffee. I asked for the man to remake it and i already struggle with speaking up about things like that, to which he took the coffee where I couldn’t see (however I could) gave it a stir and then handed back the same coffee instead of remaking it. A little funny on his part as he can think in his head “ha that’s the same coffee and she likes it” but I felt embarrassed and too shy to speak up about it once again so I walked away saying thanks. Would’ve been nicer if he had more respect and honesty for me as I was nice about asking it...

Coffee is super quick, can occasionally be a little sour or bitter but they are always happy to rectify this and make a new one fresh. Sandwiches (although a little on the high end price wise) are well worth the cost, toasted or fresh, and are made daily. Favourite sweet treat has to be their muffins just wish they had more in the afternoon. There is so much to choose from so you rarely need to have the same thing twice. The staff are friendly, inviting and will always help you out as best as they can with a smile on their face. Music during busy periods can be a little loud but all in all a really positive experience at short street thanks...
