Awful experience. One of the older waitresses scoffed at me multiple times, which was both rude and uncalled for. I ordered a soft-boiled egg that turned out to be a bit too runny for my preference, which is fine, I wasn’t planning to complain, just leave it and move on. When she asked why I didn’t eat it, I politely explained that it was too runny for me, and she scoffed and insisted it was “perfectly cooked.” I’ve attached a photo. Personally, I expect a soft-boiled egg with firm whites and a runny yolk, but about one-third of this egg’s whites were runny, which you can clearly see on the right side where the whites have mixed into the yolk.

I also didn’t finish a piece of bread, some cheese, and meat because I was full. The waitress made a scene over this, exclaiming that she would have to throw away the food I didn’t eat, drawing attention from everyone around me. As I left, I overheard her complaining about me to a neighboring table, which was shockingly unprofessional.

The concept of the place is great, but the execution, and especially the service, needs serious improvement. The younger waitress was very kind and helpful, which I...

This was a really big disappointment. For the first time in our lives, my family and I decided to celebrate Christmas away from home. I wanted them to experience something special in Vienna because I had already been to Vollpension once, so I wanted to show them something interesting. We had reservations for 23 December at noon because we wanted to have lunch. On the Vollpension website was written they only had one hot meal that day (see the attached photo), which wasn't great, but we figured lunch at this place would be nice anyway. What was our surprise when we talked to a waitress after the wait and she told us that they didn't have any lunch menu on the 23rd because they were cooking for students. We didn't understand what was going on at all. I pointed out to her that they had the information about the lunch menu on the website, but the waitress seemed surprised, didn't even apologize, just kept saying that maybe it wasn't possible that this was on the website, as if it was our fault. Yes, mistakes do happen sometimes, but the staff need to apologize at least. This was really very...

The waiter was so rude, and the service was really poor. We waited a long time to be seated. The waiter asked one couple to move from a table with soft, comfortable sofas to a table with metal chairs, and then invited us to sit at that table they were kicked out from. We sat down, and then he asked how many people we were. We said two, he didn’t like it, asked us to stand up. He replied that he would actually prefer to seat a group of four (who arrived after us) at that table instead.

He then told us, “We sit people together here, so you’ll sit together with other guests at one table,” without even asking if we were comfortable with that. I understand that as a business you want to maximize profits, but doing so without basic manners is a terrible combination.

Also, it’s the first time in my life I see a waiter sitting people and then asking them to stand up to move them around the restaurant like we are...

Even though a great eating place, this is more than just a cafe. It's an inspirational example of social entrepreneurship, wherein through its business model it addresses a social problem - in this case Vollpension is a multigenerational cafe, where elderly people and young people work together, thus addressing the loneliness and poverty issues. The cakes are a treat as the Omas (grandmas) and Opas (grandpas) working there bring their family recipes. We had a veggie breakfast there, the atmosphere was so lovely, so warm, the staff so friendly. We ate outside and it was so quiet and lovely. Inside the atmosphere was colourful and inviting as well, so next time we visit Viena we'll go there. The food was also good (of course, grandmas made it), i appreciated the microgreens especially. The menu is well marked for vegetarian and vegan options.
