A Disappointing Experience – Not Worth the Hype

Pizza was extremely sour and salty instead of spicy as requested, making it inedible. Customer service turned rude, and the loud ambience made the experience even worse.

We visited Niagara with family and, after a long day, everyone was really hungry. At the restaurant, there was only one big family seating area available, which we took — but unfortunately, it was directly under a blaring TV, making it very difficult to talk or enjoy the space.

We stopped by this pizza place hoping for a good meal. Initially, the experience seemed promising. A kind girl took our order and gave us the time we needed to decide. She was helpful, and we appreciated her good customer service.

Unfortunately, everything went downhill from there.

When the pizza arrived, we were shocked by the taste. It was extremely sour and overly salty – completely unexpected, especially since we had clearly mentioned that we were looking for a spicy pizza. I couldn’t even take a second bite. Honestly, it was the first time in my life that I had one bite of food and immediately knew it was not for me.

I approached one of the staff members to ask why the pizza tasted so off, and his response was dismissive. He claimed it was probably due to the oregano – as if oregano could make something that sour and salty. That explanation made no sense to us, and it felt like he wasn’t willing to admit the pizza was poorly made and lacked flavor.

I even invited him to try it himself, but instead of addressing the issue, he stuck to his excuse. When we asked to speak to someone higher up, like a manager or the owner, he quickly said, “I’m the manager, and the boss isn’t here,” making it clear there was no one else we could speak to. Then, in a high tone, he asked, “What do you want? Do you want another pizza?” — making it sound like we were trying to take advantage of a deal rather than solve a genuine issue.

Eventually, we asked for a refund and decided to leave.

To top it off, the ambience was just as disappointing. The music was blaring loudly from overhead speakers, with no proper sound distribution, making the atmosphere unpleasant and overwhelming — especially with the TV directly...

First time to a Papa Johns today around 4pm. Found it a bit expensive and the food (pizza dough, garlic sauce and pizza sauce) was on the sweeter side compared to other places like pizzaville and reginos and we didnt enjoy that. They also were out of drinks entirely- they only had water and 2l of fanta. Some groups were not offered paper plates to eat while dinning in and so were eating off of napkins.

The staff who took our order was kind and food came out quickly, hot and cheesy with fluffy crust. However we were disappointed with our experience overall. On top of sweet tasting food, the place was cold- the vent was blowing cold air and both front doors were wide open as if it was summer time, not below 10c. There was also so much garbage by the garbage bin, including stacked 1-2 feet out of the garbage can as well as a big pile on the floor beside it. I had to ask for toilet roll and the soap dispenser was full but not working. Someone had taken off the lid and you had to use your hand to scoop some soap out from the top to have any soap at all. Some tables were also dirty.

Since it was not so busy when we went, Im not sure why things were as they were. Wont be going to any Papa...

Visited Papa Johns recently and had a fantastic experience! The menu offers a great variety of pizzas—from classic options like Pepperoni and Cheese to more loaded choices like The Works and Garden Fresh. They also have delicious sides like garlic knots, chicken poppers, and brownies, which are perfect add-ons to your meal. You can really tell the ingredients are fresh, and everything came out hot and flavorful.

The prices are reasonable, especially considering the quality and taste. Some of the premium pizzas are a bit more expensive than the basics, but you get what you pay for—generous toppings and great flavor combinations. Plus, their combo deals make it a good value if you’re ordering for more than one person.

Special thanks to our server, Diksha, who was super friendly and helpful. She made sure everything was just right with our order and had a great attitude throughout. Her service definitely added to the positive experience.
