Zappi's Pizza has always been a place close to my heart. Growing up, it was our go-to spot for pizza nights. The staff was incredibly friendly, always remembering our names and regular orders, which made us feel right at home. Their pizza back then was the best—crispy, flavorful, and perfectly balanced with cheese and sauce. It was consistently satisfying, and every bite brought a sense of comfort. Plus, Zappi’s always had a welcoming and kid-friendly atmosphere. It was the kind of place where families could relax, kids could feel at ease, and parents didn’t have to worry about a fussy dining experience.
However, around 2018, things seemed to change. I’m not sure if they altered their recipe or if something else was different, but the quality of the pizza took a noticeable dive. The pizzas became greasy, bland, and sometimes even undercooked. It felt like the magic was gone, and I was genuinely disappointed.
Then, a year ago, I decided to give it another shot for a birthday celebration. We ordered an extra cheese tray—something we used to always enjoy. But when it arrived, it was burnt. Honestly, I was disgusted. I didn’t want to judge them too harshly, so I decided to give them another chance. But, despite my hopes, the pizza just didn’t hit the mark. It wasn’t as great as I remembered, and I started to wonder if the Zappi’s I loved was gone for good.
Fast forward to this past holiday season, when my friends and I found ourselves in a bind—nothing else was open, and we were craving a comforting meal. On a whim, we decided to try Zappi's once more. This time, I was pleasantly surprised! We ordered two pizzas, wings, and pasta, and everything was absolutely delicious. The pizza was back to being flavorful, with the perfect balance of cheese, sauce, and crust. The wings were crispy and juicy, and the pasta was rich and satisfying. It reminded me of why I loved Zappi’s in the first place.
One of Zappi’s greatest strengths is its kid-friendly vibe. Whether you’re bringing your little ones for a family meal or catching up with friends, the welcoming environment makes it a great spot for everyone. It’s the kind of place where kids can enjoy themselves, and parents can relax knowing their children are comfortable and catered to.
Overall, my experience with Zappi's Pizza has been a bit of a rollercoaster. While there have been some disappointments in recent years, I’m happy to say that the quality seems to have returned. I can only hope that the consistency stays this time, and that they continue delivering delicious meals in their family-friendly atmosphere to...
Read moreI understand that places near the hotels are busy, however I felt I was basically ignored just because I was a single diner. When I got there, I was seated within 5 minutes. 15 minutes after that I was finally acknowledged by my server. Mind you 2 families were seated after me and had already had their orders taken. So 20 minutes in, I gave my order, which was the Zappi's Philly Steak & Cheese Sub and fries with a Water and lemon, and I also ordered a medium Mushroom pizza to-go. Another 30 minutes go by and the other people after me already had been served their meals, and my server comes up and says, it'll be a few minutes. 10 minutes later, I received my sub and fries and she says they'll have the pizza boxed up for me when I'm ready to go. So after a whole hour, I get to eat. The sub was really good, however, I wish there was more mushrooms and onions, per the description, it seemed to have very little, that I couldn't even taste them. The fries were terrible. They were over cooked and had a burnt taste to them, along with tasting like the fryer oil. I added salt and grated parmesan cheese to try to make them more edible, but I couldn't eat half of them. Never asked if i needed a drink refill during my meal either. I was done and had my plate, utensils, and napkins all neatly stacked and wiped my table off after about 25 minutes. At thus point, the 2 families that came in after me. Were already gone, having their meals finished and settled up. I Sat there as the server passed several times. 15 minutes of sitting, the server finally came up and asked if I wanted a refill. I told her no thanks. I'm all done here. So she said she'd get the check and my pizza. She walked away, but then came back out and started towards another table till she saw me looking at her, turned around and went back out. Finally got my check paid and my to-go box. I looked at my watch. I had been there exactly 2 hours!! Unreal. Got back to my room and the pizza looks overcooked as well, with some burnt cheese and crust edges. This was a Tuesday night. I'd hate to see a weekend night. Very unhappy...
Read moreI'm going to try to look past the inedible food this restaurant serves. And rather focus on how apalled I was by the lack of professionalism the service team showed to me and my friends last night.
A table of 5, we ordered a simple order of pasta, chicken wings and sandwiches. The food took over 50 minutes to arrive. While waiting I inquired about the food, I was told to wait a couple more minutes. Fair enough.
Food finally arrives and I was disappointed with what I was served. I privately told my friend on the table, this food wasn't worth waiting 50+ minutes for. That's when all hell broke loose.
Over hearing us, our waitress decided to involve herself in our conversation and became instantly defensive. When I was forced to confess my dissatisfaction about the service time and response, there was no sympathy from the service team. She kept escalating the situation and kept showing us service tickets with different time stamps.
We sat in this restaurant at 6.45pm, order by 7pm. Her tickets showed that the order was put to system at 7.11pm. The food arrived at 8pm. Look, my outcry here isn't for the wait time. Im a cook. I know restaurants. They get busy, food can get late. But a private conversation became public, and then a topic of contention between our table and our waitress. An employee who at the very least should deescalate the situation, threw fuel into the fire. At one point she defended the wait time by saying that frying chicken wings take 25 minutes!
We were treated with ingenuity and clear hostility. By the end, a younger male employee (manager or host) came to our table and physically tossed a doggy bag at us telling us to 'pack the food and leave'. Not only was our experience with the older waitress deeply inappropriate, but management seemed used to this behavior with their aggressive response. instead of trying to resolve a fixable incident, we were told to take the dog food that were served and to leave the restaurant with a clear undertone of physical threat.
This dear reader, is the kind of establishment you're considering having your...
