We went here for supper around 8pm. The restaurant was not overly busy. We ordered everything when the server finally came to see us after being seated for more than 10 minutes. We waited more than 30 minutes for our food to be delivered and when it finally came, it was delivered many minutes apart. One dish (chicken burger) was horrible- the bun was dried out and the chicken appeared to have been either left too long in the deep fryer or deep fried numerous times. When we asked for a replacement, they said no problem, but we waited another 20 minutes, with the server coming twice to say it would just be another minute and myself seeking out the server to ask if it was ready, for it to be delivered and at that point everyone else at the table had been finished for 10-15 minutes and my niece was no longer hungry and did not desire to eat with all of us staring at her, as we had a long drive home. SEE UPDATE BELOW-We asked for a take out box and the bill essentially when the food came. The server returned with a box and the bill. We were charged the full price for the replacement. I have been to the Burlington Beertime many times and even at peak busyness, the food was high quality and the service excellent. I cannot say the same for the downtown Toronto location. Huge disappointment.
UPDATE: The manager reached out as below and followed up with an email offering both an apology and either to return for a 2 person reservation on them (meal and 1 drink for each) at a time of our choosing or a GC for use another time. This was a pleasant surprise. We will be trying this location again on March 23 for supper. I will post again with hopefully a...
Read moreReliable Experience with a Small Bump at the Start - Beertown continues to be our "old comfortable shoe" – the kind of place we know we can count on for great food, friendly service, and a fun atmosphere, no matter which location we visit. Our recent visit was no exception, though it did have a slightly rocky start. Getting a seat was more difficult than expected. The hosts seemed a bit overwhelmed and repeatedly explained they were focused on finishing with current guests, even though we noticed tables opening up. It wasn’t until a staff member who appeared to be the front-of-house manager stepped in that things moved along more smoothly, and we were seated without further delay. Their intervention really made a difference. Once seated, things turned around quickly. We were asked if we were celebrating anything, and mentioned we had a concert to get to within the hour. The server was notified immediately, and we were genuinely impressed with how efficiently and warmly everything was handled from that point on. Food and drinks arrived quickly and without any compromise in quality – a hallmark of the Beertown experience. The atmosphere was buzzing – loud and energetic – which is totally understandable given all the events happening around Toronto that night. It added to the lively vibe of the evening. Overall, despite the initial hiccup, Beertown delivered what we’ve come to expect: a reliable, welcoming spot with solid service and a great menu. We’ll...
Read moreThe nachos are good but small portion for the price. The burger was decent but messy. The Baja chicken sandwich was definitely lacking, it was all avocado. The spinach dip was good but you could get it anywhere.
The beer selection was obviously good, although you'd think the servers would know more about the beer.
The main reason for the 1 star though, is b/c the service was horrible both times I've been here. They don't pay any attention to you, and run away almost as soon as they get to your table. Our dirty plates from the appetizers remained on the table until we left. The dirty plates from our mains, we pushed to the side of the table to be picked up yet the staff just constantly walked past them.
One time when my friend tried to flag down the waiter to say he wanted another beer, the waiter said okay and then never came back. When he did, he gave my friend the same beer he had already, which is not what he wanted. He wanted to try a new one. He didn't have time to tell the waiter when he dropped off the beer though b/c he ran away. So my friend flagged down someone else and they just said that they'd tell our server. Then we proceeded to see the server take orders at 3 separate tables. My friend even tried to take the beer to the bar and address it, but no one acknowledged him.
When he finally came back and my friend explained he wanted another beer, he didn't even apologize, let alone offer him anything for the...
