Chapola: Pizza and Bar — Restaurant in Quindío

I don’t know why this place is rated so highly. That’s the reason I went but I should’ve known it was going to be an awful evening when the bartender gave me a flat bottle of coke. I let it go because it was one tiny thing and I was hungry and tired. I should not have let it go, however, since my food took 1 hour and a half to come. One of the staff did apologise and offer us a drink. Two mock tails came which were pretty much just soda water. When my food came the staff member asked my boyfriend if he could order something else, since they had run out of all pizzas entirely. An hour and a half after he ordered one. He patiently ordered the same as me, which was a mistake. I realised the quesadilla was awful quality. Probably the worst one I’ve had in Colombia. It was burnt, the veg was raw, guacamole watery and pretty much no flavour. I ate half my meal because I was so hungry and had zero faith they’d resolve it quickly and when my boyfriend’s arrived - 15 minutes later - of the same quality, I went to ask for the meals to be refunded. I got left and then passed to a 2nd manager who didn’t nothing but belittle me, make excuses and call me a liar. I explained this was all wrong and he refused to refund me on the grounds that I had eaten half of the meal. He fixated on this detail and never once said sorry. He scoffed at me, talked over me and threatened to call the police after asking me to leave while my boyfriend was still eating. I will, of course, never be returning and I suggest no one eats here unless you want to pay to wait an hour for some tasteless,...

Being on this property was absolutely amazing, and I’ll never, ever forget it. The service was top tier! 🌟 One particular day, I remember all the eggs were finished at breakfast, and the staff went above and beyond to create something special for me—I was so grateful for that level of care and attention. 🙌🏽

I also want to take a moment to give a special shoutout to Manuel. He really stood out because he was the life of the party! I remember the other guests absolutely loving him, and I could see why—he’s so lively and full of energy. 💛

The staff were amazing from the kitchen to the bar, just awesome people, which to be fair is a running theme in Salento and Colombia generally. The atmosphere was cool, probably cos it's attached to a hostel so you have travelers from around the world socialising and also the food was really good! We didn't try the burger which I think is the main item they do but the pizza was the only decent one I've had in South America so far (half Italian chef so that may have come into play) and the quesadillas and nachos were great too. If you're in Salento and looking for a good place to hang out and eat something tasty while you're at it then...
