Il Palazzo — Restaurant in Prague

I called some weeks before to make a reservation for New Year’s Eve, i left my personal information and arranged that i would bring a deposit the moment we reached Prague, some days before the dinner (initially said the 28th but called and said we arrived later so i would come the day after “absolutely no problem” ). Arrived there, we were told to go downstairs for reservations and deposits, and we were shown a gorgeous room with Christmas decorations. my boyfriend fell in love with it, it was our first New Year together. they had zero notes about my reservation, but the waitress proceeded to add us and said, multiple times, that we didn’t need a deposit. her english wasn’t good (she kept writing 22 instead of 20 when i said reservation at “eight”), the english of the girl on the phone wasn’t either (i don’t know if it was her), so i asked to make sure because of this. she assured us, no deposit was needed (even if they said so on the phone). end of the story, we arrive on New Year Eve and there’s no trace of our reservation, a new waitress said “it’s impossible we were said no deposit, they write down on the main agenda only the deposit reservations”. i point at our previous waitress (i think she was named natasha and she wrote my name on the reservation in Cyrillic alphabet), saying she was the one that told us. they speak in a language i don’t understand and then this natasha says “hello” with a really rude manner and annoyed face and we were said to follow her. she doesn’t say a word, point at a table upstairs in the casual restaurant room and we end up sitting with people that didn’t do a reservation in advance. people wearing casual clothes and eating pizza, while i was wearing a long elegant silver dress and we both ordered from starters to desserts. i felt a bit uncomfortable, out of context. i was so mad because i personally chose this restaurant among others weeks earlier, to have the best experience with my boyfriend, and efforts were for nothing. upstairs, we were served by a so nice italian man and another waitress that was really nice as well, and the food was really tasty (i am italian myself and can assure the dishes really are as they are supposed to be done) so we had a nice experience in the end and i feel bad now, the whole restaurant doesn’t deserve a bad review for a single person’s mistake (was the reservation lost? did she misunderstand the deposit procedure?). the situation wasn’t handled well afterwards either, we didn’t get any apology from the waitress and i’m not sure the situation was reported to someone else beside the four of us, that’s why i’m writing, maybe we were taken lightly because we are both young. anyway, considering how good it was supposed to be then im really...

Let's start with atmosphere. Prague was hot so tables on the street should have some cold sprinklers especially after you eat the food, u start feeling hot. You will have to wait for a server to appear and get to seated. Service is a bit slow. But the food overtakes it all. We found this place as wanted Italian food (extremely popular among tourists and kot of places) but most were over priced. We found this to be decently priced and the food looked good. We had Vino Bianco(white wine), risotto (chicken sausage with saffron) and chicken tagliatelle - both dishes delicious. For dessert, we had tiramisu (but it looked deconstructed and while the taste was v good, it's not my understanding of the presentation); my sisterbhad semifreddo pistachio with dark chocolate sauce which she enjoyed. The service was very friendly but it took a little longer than we expected to get our lunch even though there were not so many guests in the afternoon. I wonder how long it takes when it's super crowded... We ordered Bruschetta and Pizza, I don't know what to call what we received but it wasn't really Pizza, more likely Langos or something like that. The 'Pizza' was almost cold and the cheese did not taste of high quality. The Bruschetta bread was not crispy, it was just a thick piece of Baguette I think... It looked pretty though, as you can see in the picture. Overall it was an okay experience, you can go for a quick lunch if you don't have high expectations, but I wouldn't go there for a fancy...
