I've eaten at well over a hundred vegan restaurants in more than twenty countries, and this is one of my top five spots in the world. When I first came to Prague five years ago Sandokan instantly became my favorite restaurant in the city. And every year since, the owner makes everything just a little bit better.
The food is healthy and delicious, and if you believe it makes a difference when your lunch is cooked by a happy person with great energy, then this is the place you need to eat. One of the things I like best about Sandokan Vegan Bistro is that it only cooks six hot items a day. This means that everything is super fresh when the restaurant opens around 11:15 AM, and nothing is hastily being thrown together by an overworked and stressed out chef. If I had my way, 80 percent of restaurants would be set up like this. It just makes so much sense.
There are usually a few Indian-style items served, and often a couple veganized Czech dishes too (like sour bread and goulash). A gorgeous and super-fresh salad is always available. This cooking format also means the entrees are tried-and-true, since they've all been perfected from years of being prepared multiple times each month. All in all, Sandokan Vegan Bistro is flawless, and a must-visit if you like vegan food and are visiting the Czech Republic. My summers in Prague have consistently been among the best and most productive times of my life, in large part because I was being fueled every day by such...
Read moreWORST OWNER EVER! I called the restaurant to ask why my order was cancelled. The owner picked up and said he didn't know what was going on. Then when I asked why, he said it's because he is not at the restaurant. I asked what the number of the restaurant is, so I can talk to them and make sure the order is on the way, and he got offended at this question (apparently because he himself doesn't know what is happening at his own restaurant), and then aggressively told me to get my food at "another restaurant" and hung up. I see that others have complained about the arrogance of the owner and the staff as well, and I am not surprised. What an absolutely disgusting behaviour and unnecessary alienation of someone who wanted to support your business, Shame on you Mr. Duda. Please check your attitude, it is NOT ok to attack customers for wanting to support you and checking on their order (which is actually...

Just ate at Sandokan Vegan Bistro and really enjoyed the meal and the whole experience.
Even if you are not a veggie, you should try this place. It’s waaay on the opposite side of fancy, (like cafeteria style and standing tables) but the food is good, cheap and has lots of different choices, all vegetarian. 130 kcs for a full plate. Where else can you have a full meal of fresh healthy food for 130 kcs in Prague? ...Herbal water all you can drink, is free! (Did I say it cheap?)
Down side? Tiny place with standing room only tables and no coffee or deserts. But there’s plenty to be had nearby.
Added bonus - Marek the owner and front man is a wonderfully...
