Whenever I hear that I am living where there is the best beer, I want to say that I am also living where you can get surprising/amazing cocktails. I created this blog as a way to share some of my culinary adventures in Prague, through reviews of restaurants, bars, and of friend‘s, family‘s and my own recipes (made in my kitchen). The stories are focused on my love of food, design, photography, places, style and all things in Prague which inspired me or places where I found inspiration. First I want to tell you about a little place where, if you’re anything like me, you will spend a lot of time in and which will surprise you especially because sometimes you don’t know what you will be drinking. “La Casa De La Havana Vieja“ –a little piece of Cuba – Caribbean culture. The interior is great, you feel that here would maybe sit and write Hemingway and Salvador Dali would make some wizardry on napkins. The atmosphere is amazing and the staff are just wonderful people.Honestly I just wait that something will be wrong or the staff will be bad tempered, sometimes I am very sceptical. But i just enjoy, forget that i am living in Prague, feel that i am somewhere in the Caribbean. The Cocktails are good, the barmen know there stuff and enjoy making a cocktail for you. Sometimes we need to forget all the things around us and relax with good drink and it not necessary to get drunk. Good drinker know that with good drink you feel...
Read moreI went for a birthday party with a lady friend to this bar and the experience left us pretty shocked.
The 'salesman' (I can only call it as he was no waiter!) sat us down the moment we just walked in to look and said 'let us get you started with some water' which we never asked for, and was in front of us in moments. The water was 2 euros on the bill!
We did decide due to the music to order a cocktail and opened a box of chocolates to share and the salesman came over with a stern face and said 'no eating here in our bar!' before turning with a fake smile to the next victims through the door and loudly announcing 'everything is possible!' in the bar. Of course, except celebrating your birthday by trying the chocolates with your rum.
The bar staff were typically rude, czech arrogant guys who were just there to cream your money and pretend to show some degree of service because, well its their job.
Never would go back here. Tourist trap and the staff ruin the atmosphere. I give it 2 stars because the live music was good otherwise it would be a 0 star...
Read moreAbsolutely loved this place! La Casa de La Havana Vieja is a hidden gem in the heart of Prague. The atmosphere is cozy, intimate, and full of old-school Cuban charm — dim lighting, vintage décor, and Latin music that instantly sets the mood.
The cocktails are outstanding. You can tell the bartenders are true professionals who take pride in their craft. I tried the classic Mojito and a Hemingway Daiquiri — both were perfectly balanced and packed with fresh ingredients. The rum selection is also impressive, with some rare bottles you won’t easily find elsewhere.
Service was friendly and knowledgeable. The staff were happy to make recommendations and even share a bit about the history behind the drinks. It’s clear they care about creating an authentic experience.
Perfect spot for a date night or a classy evening out. Highly recommend booking ahead — it’s popular and for...
