Could have been a better experience if we had not been asked to tip. (When we already intended on doing it.) This prejudicial approach towards those who do not speak Czech as natives is something we noticed thankfully at only very few pubs and restaurants and Plny Pekac is one of these. Guys, a tip to you: if you want more cash then raise your (already fairly substantial) prices. Or have faith in your patrons that we will tip for services. Another tip: don't assume all non native Czechs are "tourists". You're ruining it for yourselves. We won't come back.
[FOLLOWUP: There was no way to reply to the venue's below response to my review, where they seem to shift the blame to the reviewer. Here is my response to that: Being instructed to leave a tip by a server - or in this case a gruff server - before even reaching for one's wallet is a problem, and goes against the very principle of tipping. It's rude and discourteous. And as a result it deflated our original intended tip to a lesser amount. When servers are gruff (which in this case was due possibly to it being 10pm on a busy night so we were sympathetic to it) it is impossible to generate a conflict right then and there and in front of your patrons. Or would you prefer an argument in your establishment? Rather, a non-personal review helps with feedback in a secure manner and without conflict. That is, until the owner responds in an...
Read moreWe visited this restaurant in Prague our first night in the beautiful city. The food was very good but the server was incredibly rude. When the food arrived to the table, she slammed each plate onto the table in front of each person which startled us. We were not sure if this was her intention but it seemed like it was. When we thought we didn’t have utensils, which happened to be on the table in a central utensil holder but we didn’t know that, we asked her and she flicked the utensil holder with her hand while laughing at us and walked away. But what really made me mad was when she was removing some dishes and dropped one right in front of me and it landed on the table with a loud bang. She laughed, picked it up and walked away, never apologizing. I honestly could not tell if she did it on purpose or if it was an accident. I would certainly think if it was an accident she would have said she was sorry and not have laughed. I will mention the other girls that were working to fill drinks were all very nice. But this server was not nice at all and seemed to not like tourists. Ok, it’s fine if you don’t like tourist but then I suggest you not work in a tourist location, young lady. Also, tourists beware, they will ask you to leave...

Stopped here after a great afternoon on I Like ebike grand tour.
Somewhat thirsty I had a local light beer which was fabulous. I wanted to try something as local as possible...food wise.
I chose the three different meats (pulled pork (knee) roast ham and kalabos sausage, which was served with white cabbage and dumplings and potato cake/bread slices (like polenta cake but not yellow) doused in a slightly sweet gravy.....not heavy and meat like it would be in UK.
Thoroughly enjoyed it but had to leave 2 'polenta' slices and some white cabbage.
The two girls serving were delightful, gave me a great suggestion for dinner and served me 2 glasses of local Czech red wine 🍷 after my meal, possibly grown on the hillside up by the botanical gardens....who knows, but it was delicate and subtle but good flavour!! Excellent.... It's not far from the historic Charles Bridge....so a perfect stop whilst...
