I recently visited Mother in Kødbyen, and overall, it was an excellent experience. The standout for me was definitely their cheese pizza, which was rich, creamy, and full of flavor without being overwhelming – a perfect balance that really showcased the quality of their ingredients. Their Margherita was also very good: simple, fresh, and exactly what you’d expect from a classic pizza done well.
The pepperoni pizza, while decent, felt a little underwhelming in comparison. It wasn’t bad by any means, but it lacked the same punch and excitement that the other pizzas delivered. That being said, what truly elevated all of the pizzas was their incredible dough. It had the perfect texture – airy on the inside, with a beautifully charred crust that gave it that authentic wood-fired character. It’s the kind of dough you can happily eat on its own.
It is on the pricier side, which means you naturally expect a high level of quality – and for the most part, Mother delivers on that. Combined with its lively, casual setting in Kødbyen, it’s a great spot for anyone who appreciates well-made, Italian-style pizzas with an unforgettable crust.

I visited Mother in Kødbyen with my girlfriend, and while the pizza itself was quite tasty, the overall experience left a lot to be desired. At 160 DKK per pizza, you expect not only good food but also good service – and unfortunately, the service was disappointing from start to finish.
Despite the restaurant being almost empty, we waited an unnecessarily long time before getting a table. Once seated, no waiter came over to take our order until we actively flagged someone down. When we finally did get service, the waiter seemed neither particularly friendly nor interested, which set a rather unwelcoming tone.
The pizzas were undeniably good – fresh, flavorful, and with a nice charred crust – but the lack of attentiveness and warmth from the staff made it hard to truly enjoy the visit. Sadly, even with great pizza, it wasn’t the kind of dining experience I’d look forward...
Read moreWhile looking for a nice satisfactory dinner for the last evening spent in Copenhagen me and my wife (she is from italy) went hunting for a good proper pizza and research led us to try Mother. We went there and it was a bit unclear where to wait as it is on the sidewalk you wait in the meat district to be seated. But the staff was quick to organize and make everything about the service and seating clear for us and staff was very polite and kind.
We got seated pretty fast, waited perhaps around 5-10min tops and seeing we just had discovered the place and went without any reservation it was a smooth and chill experience.
We sat inside causr the sun was striking on the seatings outside and the decor and interior immediately gave a good vibe, fresh and rustic at the same time. Was all kinds of grouos sitting there and I didnt find it to be too loud or too quiet.
We both went for the Quattro Formaggi and their Mother #1 pilsner. While waiting for food we got our drinks and some juicy olives. And the service was relaxed and jolly.
We didnt have to wait that long then arrived our pizzas, and they were really something. The smoked Scamorza they had as one cheese really made it an adventure, hehe.
The bread was as I want it, not thin and crisp but proper fluffy bread that stays fluffy til the end and doesnt loose shape. Always a good sign, and the ingredients were simply a joy devour in it's composition!
And their pilsner was nice and öight for a summer dinner as well. They had another Mother classic pilsner that I will try next time, cause yes, this place instantly makes you think about a "next time".
Pricing for this feast for two was around 300-330DKK and considering the ambience, relaxed and fun atmosphere, the staff and of course the food it is a more expensive side of meals but totally worth it here at Mother!
A good quality pizza that is worth a try if you want some proper italian feel on your stay...
Read moreThis is the first restaurant review I’ve ever written, but the service I experienced here was so disrespectful that I feel compelled to share so others are not treated the same way. I should start by saying I enjoyed the burrata pizza and drinks just fine. The restaurant is in a cool part of town, and the atmosphere is lively and busy, even late at night.
The poor rating is just for the service. I waited to be seated near the doorway, and the server and host both glanced in my direction but ignored me multiple times. The host then proceeded to seat a couple that walked in behind me, not even acknowledging I was standing in front of them. I even smiled at him on his way back, and he walked away to clear a table. It took the busboy who was in the middle of bringing plates to the kitchen to acknowledge and seat me. I then waited over 15 mins for the server to take my order, watching her first take the order of a couple who came in much after me. Even the table next to me was trying to help me flag her down. The couple received two rounds of drinks and food before I even received my drink, which I had to remind her about. I’m not sure if it’s because I’m female, Asian, or solo - or perhaps I’m reading too much into it - but it did feel personal. I’ve been traveling solo in Europe for months now and have not experienced anything...
