Absolutely awful experience tonight. We have a home here in Chamonix and have been looking forward to trying the restaurant as somewhere new in Town. From the moment we walked in the staff were rude and unhelpful. We have a young child just under 2 year old and we arrived for our reservation and requested a high chair. We were told there are none left so I asked if one would likely become available and the waitress said I told you we don't have any left. I repeated the question as to whether one would become available as our son would unlikely sit through the meal and she shouted in my face that they don't have any and won't have any come available. My husband asked the manager to come over and he replied "I'm not your dog" very taken back my husband replied that we felt our waitress had been quite rude and unhelpful because all we were trying to understand was whether a high chair would later be available. He simply said "we don't have any" and walked off. We left the restaurant and watched on as they treated many customers walking in with the same rude reception. Including Shouting at someone in the queue for holding the door open. Understandable that its a busy time but speaking to customers the way they spoke to us tonight is totally unacceptable and it's a shame but we will not be going back and would not recommend this restaurant worthy of anyone's money when they speak to people this way. My son was crying and we ended up having to go and find dinner elsewhere. I would urge anyone wanting a nice family meal to think twice before booking here. Can't comment on the food because we didn't make it that far! Busy and acted like they were doing us a favour for being in there but that is incredibly...
Read moreThey ruined our Christmas Eve dinner! And for that 0 star. First, we waited for more than 15 minutes to be seated (half of it outside in the cold) when the manager 'greeted' us coldly with 'You are late' when it was their fault for not being able to seat customers promptly. He didn't apologise. Then when we were served the seafood plater, the cooked octopus smelt very fishy, we asked them to take it away, as it wasn't fresh. The manager went on and said they received the octopus yesterday, so it was fresh. We said we didn't want it anymore, he took it away and said we still would pay for this, and we said we wouldn't. He had the meanest attitude and definitely wasn't cut for hospitality industry. Then we waited for an hour between appetizer and main course!! (even though it's Christmas Eve, this is unacceptable!), and we got a barely cooked burger and a not cooked through piece of cod. We asked another staff member, who said no, they were both cooked. He didn't want to listen to us and proceeded to take them back. After 10 minutes, the cod came back cooked, and the burger wasn't, we didn't want to get food poisoning and left the burger intact. The issue with the restaurant is its staff. They didn't want to listen and respond to their customers, and they were self righteous and condescending. I was shocked to receive such service on a christmas eve, the manager was definitely combative and seemed to set out to ruin our dinner from the get go (we were with a toddler btw and all wore festive clothes) I live in the valley, and this is really the first. I know the other restaurants run by the same group, and they were all good except this one. I won't be surprised if they closed...
Read moreThis restaurant is a classic tourist trap. We visited the restaurant because of its extremely beautiful terrace, in our opinion, one of the most beautiful in Chamonix Centre. However, the food was absolutely below average. We had the pierrade with beef; the meat was already very oxidized and had turned brown. While this doesn't necessarily indicate poor quality, for €70 for two people, one should expect something fresher. The meat was also not particularly tender, and the stone was not hot. There were no vegetable sides except for five tiny strips of the cheapest, tasteless bell pepper. The only good thing was the homemade Béarnaise sauce, but it cost an additional €4. The cheese fondue we also ordered was the worst we've ever had—the cheese was not melted at all, and everything was clumped together. When we complained to the waiter, he did take the fondue back to reheat it, but when it came back, the exact same problem remained. The bread was inedible; it was several days old. While it's true that fondue isn't made with fresh bread, you should still be able to pick up the bread without it falling apart, otherwise the whole thing doesn't make sense. We told the waiter that we were extremely disappointed, and he responded very unprofessionally, practically throwing the bill on the table. An unacceptable restaurant with expensive prices. We visited this restaurant specifically because of the beautiful terrace, thinking that the quality would be assured given the higher prices. It was really terrible. Definitely to be avoided. A disgrace to French cuisine, simply...
