Refined Review for L’Avenue
I genuinely fail to understand the hype surrounding this place. Our experience was disappointing from the start. We waited for about 30 minutes to be seated, and despite being a party of three, we were given a table meant for two. The setup was incredibly uncomfortable—one chair and a cramped section of the sofa, which was partly occupied by other guests and their belongings. When I politely requested an additional chair, I was refused.
I then asked if we could be moved to a table for four, offering to order accordingly or even pay extra if needed. I fully understand policies regarding seating, but the outright refusal felt unreasonable. To make matters worse, shortly after, another group of three was seated at the very table I had requested. This blatant inconsistency in treatment felt like a direct display of bias.
The host, Elijah, seemed to have the authority to decide who is “worthy” of better seating and who is not. His dismissive attitude significantly impacted our experience. It’s disheartening to see such selective treatment, and honestly, it felt like pure disrespect.
By that point, my mood was ruined, and as a matter of principle, I chose not to leave a tip. If I had been alone, I would have walked out without placing an order at all.
As for the food: • The foie gras was excellent. • The snails were no better than those you’d find at any casual Parisian bistro. • The pasta was disappointing, and the risotto was closer to milk porridge than anything else. • The Pavlova was enjoyable but nothing extraordinary. • The cappuccino is something I wouldn’t recommend at all.
Another significant issue: the restroom was in terrible condition—completely unexpected for a place of this supposed caliber.
After this experience, I submitted a formal complaint to local authorities because a review alone does not seem sufficient. There are numerous complaints about similar issues, including discrimination and poor service standards, which should not be ignored.
The turning point of my dissatisfaction was when a table for four was suddenly available for another group of three, just moments after my request had been denied. What made it even more absurd was that my own child, who is 9 years old, was not considered deserving of the same accommodation. Apparently, in Elijah’s view, my child didn’t “count” as a person.
This place thrives on exclusivity, but it seems they selectively enforce their rules at their own discretion. For me, L’Avenue was an overpriced, overrated experience with an undeniable...
Read moreHorrible customer service the manager Lauren should be prosecuted for racisist acts! We are seeking counsel to litigate this unethical management team and bring them to justice. It came to a point we wanted to press charges have her arrested for threatening and insulting guests. This establishment needs a shakeup! Read the reviews most are identical complaints. I was a guest at your restaurant, which I have multiple issues of. First of all majority of the staff has extremely high entitlement level. They think they are the guests and the guests are the employees. I think they have the situation mixed. They don’t understand that they work there, they are the employees they cannot speak to guests as like guests work for them. There is one particular person her name is Lauren. I want to bring a strong attention to the owners as majority of guests, and it’s clearly shown on your reviews people cannot stand her actions. She is the most ignorant, unethical thing we have ever encountered in our entire life. The only position she should be allowed to be held, is a toilet cleaner maximum! This ludacris unstable individual, was called towards our table because the chef did not make our steaks correct instead of her, exchanging it and bringing us another plate, she asks why did you eat it? This thing doesn’t understand people have to try their food in order to tell if it’s properly made or not and to add insult on injury she charges us the bill and when we confronted her, she started raising her voice pointing her fingers hitting my chest. It came to a point we were going to have her arrested for assault and insults. Please do this company a favor and remove her immediately as we are also speaking with multiple attorneys to have her litigated, hopefully even prosecuted for her inhumane conduct she is a disgrace to humanity. This time she dealt with us people that are very ethical and kept everything professional. Next time she might encounter someone else that she might not be so lucky and might cause a fight! Start teaching her and rest of your frenchie crew that worldwide when people don’t like their food, it usually is exchanged right away instead of asking baseless uneducated questions like this Laura did, actually when we call her uneducated that’s...
Read more0/5 stars if I could. I was immensely disappointed, as I was very excited to check this location out as the one in NYC is one of my favorites to always dine at. Where do I even start? Our waitress was BEYOND rude. She kept giving us dirty looks each time we asked for something or tried to make space on the table for our dishes. The bread served to us was stiff as a rock, I quite literally almost chipped my tooth, when we asked if we could have some warm bread she looked at us like we were dumb and said “It’s late, we don’t have warm bread”, it wasn’t even past 7pm … as the night went on a plus sized gentleman was sat at the table next to us and she rudely asked him to get out of her way and move his chair closer to the table, the poor guy looked at her like “how much closer to the table can i get ??!!”, he tried his best but the tables are tightly squeezed and he already could barely fit where she seated him. When our escargot came, a snail was completely empty, out of the 6 piece portion, which is ridiculous for the pricepoint. My steamed salmon was beyond bland, no seasoning or taste whatsoever, and my side of mashed potatoes very mediocre. I could have put up with the food if the waitress wasn’t so rude, and not to mention she was wearing a short work out body suit, it was giving bottle service at the club not upscale restaurant. It felt like her demeanor was different towards us because we were dressed more casually, a girl sat down at the table next to us with a Chanel bag and she was served right away, while we were still waiting to get our drinks in, I didn’t know I had to wear my Chanel to get good service. When the check came she asked us 3 times to leave a tip, like never in my life even in America have I had a server ask me multiple times to tip. Save your self the hassle and go to the other hundred of upscale places available in Paris and save your money. Overall it was truly disappointing getting that type of treatment because I didn’t choose to flash all my designer goods, beyond superficial and food was...
