Disappointing Experience at Cantina Di Luca
Before I begin, I want to say that everyone we encountered during our stay in Paris was absolutely fantastic. As Canadians, we truly appreciated how warm and welcoming people were throughout our visit.
Unfortunately, we had one of our worst dining experiences yesterday — not just in Paris, but in all our travels.
After visiting the Dior museum, we stopped at Cantina Di Luca because my daughter was hungry, and we were looking for something refreshing. We checked the menu outside, but since there was no host in sight, we assumed we could find a table ourselves.
As we sat down, a woman suddenly began yelling at us from across the restaurant. I immediately apologized and explained that I didn’t speak French. She then approached our table, informing us that we couldn’t sit there. We apologized again and started to get up, but in an extremely rude tone, she snapped, “Well, you’re already sitting there…” The restaurant was nearly empty, with only about six other guests inside, so her reaction felt unnecessarily hostile.
Despite this, our waitress was lovely — kind, polite, and attentive. We ordered gelato for myself and my mother-in-law, sparkling water, pizza for my daughter, and a soft drink.
However, just two minutes later, the same woman returned abruptly, insisting we had to order two main dishes since it was a restaurant. Her tone was harsh and confrontational, which caught us off guard. Before we could even respond, she said, “Caesar salad!” — as if deciding for us — and walked away without giving us a menu or any other options. It felt rude, unprofessional, and frankly, discriminatory.
While the pizza and gelato were delicious, the salad was awful — dry chicken, wilted lettuce, and definitely not something we would have chosen if we’d been given a proper choice.
We left feeling upset. We thanked our waitress for his excellent service, but the hostess never acknowledged us or thanked us for coming. It left us wondering what her role even was.
I wouldn’t recommend Cantina Di Luca to anyone visiting Paris. There are so many other wonderful places where you'll be treated with respect, courtesy, and kindness — this restaurant, unfortunately, is not one of...
Read moreWe would never have expected to have such an offensive and appalling dining experience in Paris but this place managed to exceed our worst expectations in a multitude of levels. First off, as non-French diners, we wouldn’t get upset for restaurants offering no English menu. Under such a circumstance, staffers at least should make an effort to briefly explain the menu to diners who were adventurous (or brave) enough to pay you a patronage. They never bothered! To our dismay, we ordered food based on the somewhat incomprehensible translation from Google Translate. We ordered some kind of pasta and chicken Cesar salad. The worst was yet to come - when the food arrived, we were flabbergasted to learn how unpresentable they looked and how skimpy the serving size was. We reiterated that we intended to share food but they did not bother to bring extra dishes! The pasta looked and tasted awful as they sadly clumped together. The worst part was the salad, which the cabbage was chopped into an unedibly huge size, the chicken was as dry and tough as tree barks. Staffers demonstrated none of the professionalism and service-oriented attitude necessary for a restaurant. Staffers were incessantly chatting with each other and the chef. The supervisor (as we observed) made few smoking trips outside the restaurant in a span of an hour. All of these were just...
Read moreI came here with my friends after the crazy horse. The food was great, the staff great. However, it was super late, my mistake, we just paid the bill and headed to our next stop. I noticed that we had been charged for 2 bottles of wine, not the two glasses we ordered and received. Ive contacted them numerous times to get the bill corrected with no response. I called and was hung up on, and my next several calls went unanswered then sent to vm. No one will respond to the emails, social media or anything. I thought it was an honest mistake, but their unwillingness to resolve the charges makes me question. Check your bill throughly no matter how late...js. this was an over $50 issue they won't fix.
As of 2/14 even after multiple attempts the staff continues to hang up on me and the manager emailed asking for documents which I provided for the 3rd time and still they haven't even respected me enough to even respond or remove the $50 overcharge to make it right. Despicable behavior for a business. And perhaps because they are next to crazy horse and get tons of business cheating me out of my money...
