L' Ancienne Douane — Restaurant in Strasbourg

Well, the restaurant is in a beautiful location and the building has a lot of history and it was very interesting to read about the building and to be able to eat a meal at the location. However, this was the worse meal we had while in Strasbourg, the food was below average – the onion soup was a broth with one small piece of bread and a hint of cheese, the rest of the meal was an improvement but only because of such a sad beginning. But the worse part was the service, the waitress disappeared for about 40 minutes (at a minimum) and we were not able to order anything else, it took so long to get our meals that by the end of it, we just want to leave and did not order desserts. I don’t compare restaurant service in Europe to America, because it is quite different, however, the people seating next to us were French and they actually complained and got out of the table looking for the waitress. Maybe, we just got a bad waitress, who knows, but it definitely ruined the whole...

Whole experience in Alsace was really nice, But the service here broke my lovely day. It's an unpleasant experience for me here. I came from the Netherlands and originally I'm a Chinese. I spent my long weekend here with my boyfriend for wine tasting and bit relax from the work.

Food: +/- average. We ordered fish of the day and choucroute with 5 garnitures.

Service: 1 point for the one who bring us the drinks Who still gave us proper respect and combined a bit joke. 0 point for the main waitor of our table who is completely bad. Several reason I gave him 0 point: At beginning, he didn't check whether we need any water; When we finish order main food he tend to leave immediately. We stopped him and adding the drinks from us. When we finish main food, we ask waitor for service. We we're planning to order coffee,but he bring bill without checking what's our demands.

It's rude, unexpected, and unconsidered! This is the worst...

I'm still in the restaurant and I can't help but show my great disappointment in this so-called restaurant. It is seen that because we are Spanish the waiters can ignore us and move on from our needs to the rhythm of “VAAAMOS!!!”, “Real Madrid!!!”, “VIVA ESPAÑA!!”…. among other stupidities that have nothing to do with our purpose here. The quality of the food is limited but the service is humiliating or rather irritating. I'm still waiting for my 9 year old daughter to be able to eat something for 2 hours now. They don't listen, they shout and ignore everything. The wrong wine for the third time, the food the same, and the show goes on. In short, all nonsense. It's fine for a restaurant on a football field but nothing more. If you come here, don't complain afterwards. Good luck! I will just try to forget that I have...
