We booked a reservation for the restaurant in advance because of the high reviews but we can’t justify them. The menu is really complex to understand when in fact the food isn’t as complicated. We barely chose two things to order after the waiter rudely became impatient about us not being ready to order. The portions are pretty big, two people can easily share one and walk out full. The food was good too. We noticed that we weren’t the only ones who didn’t grasp the menu and some even left without ordering which we thought of doing. The server was rude and unprofessional. Walking in the restaurant you’re hit by the smell of the kitchen which isn’t really pleasant. We ordered whiskey, which they automatically served with ice and for a restaurant claiming such high level is appalling. The Christmas decorations look cheap and bring down the level and atmosphere of the restaurant. The live music was a nice touch. We most definitely won’t return to this restaurant. The waiter automatically added a 10% tip to our bill which we thought was unnecessary especially considering how high the bill was for only two courses. We would have tipped but we found it rude of him to demand it and explain to us like we’re daft that this is the way it is done here in Hungary(it wasn’t our first time in a Hungarian restaurant and we know that it doesn’t work like that).Save your money there are way better restaurants in Budapest to try traditional Hungarian food at much more reasonable prices. It is overpriced and a tripadvisor...
Read moreTruly unforgettable experience - Thank you Matild Palace concierge for the recommendation If culinary excellence had a capital, this restaurant would be its parliament. From the moment you walk in, you're greeted not just with warmth, but with reverence for tradition and a passion for perfection.
Every dish is a masterclass in flavor and authenticity. The Hungarian wine that Andrea recommended, paired well with everything. From the Famous Hungarian Langos selection, to the Porcini Mushroom and Chicken Paprikash Cream soup, Hungarian Cucumber Salad and our FINAL entrees: Mr. Jaki’s favorite and the King Prawn Dance which is Andrea’s favorite.
The staff are intuitive, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate. They don’t just serve—they guide, educate, and elevate the experience. Timing is impeccable, recommendations are thoughtful, and every interaction feels personal. It’s the kind of service that makes you wonder why the Michelin Guide hasn’t come knocking yet.
This isn’t just a restaurant—it’s a celebration of Hungarian heritage, hospitality, and haute cuisine with live Hungarian Music. If Michelin stars were awarded for soul, this place would shine brighter than most.
As a small note for future diners, the meals are hearty, so it's best to arrive with an appetite to fully enjoy your meal and to try the dessert selections, which we, unfortunately, were...
Read moreWonderful hosts, however pushed into a cramped space, food returned as it was not hot and very very expensive. Be aware that there is a 15% service charge and considering we sent back the food this should have been removed. Would not recommend. Your comments are not correct. We booked a table with your wife during the afternoon so we were expecting a table in the main part of the restaurant we did not just walk in unlike the two tables of 10 she said had come in before us. There was a Chinese lady who ran out of the restaurant saying she was ill. Because the bottom of the dish was hot doesn't mean that the food is. We didn't mention anything about not paying and I didn't finish the meal as I was not impressed with it. Yes there's a price list but we talked with your wife without taking too much notice at the time. We paid the bill but my comments still stand. You had only been open a week. Presumably you have learned more and improved. Won't...
