Fresco Cocktail Shop — Restaurant in Como

Love, love, love this place.

My wife and I read about this place and we hit it prior to dinner out last night in Como.

The Italian founder/owner and his Sri Lankan-Italian protege were just fabulous. There's no cocktail menu, you simply have a discussion around what you like and they make suggestions and complement it with some great small plates (e.g. beef tartare on toast and cheese/potato puree).

We settled on a French 75 and the Mother of all Negronis and just the preparation was a show, and the quality of the drinks were outstanding. Take a look at the pic of our drinks and the bar.

Is it more expensive than the standard tourist fare? Maybe slightly, but well worth it.

This was a magical experience, by far the most memorable time I have had at a cocktail bar anywhere in the world. On a week long trip in Italy throughout Piedmont and Lombardy from the United States, our visit to Fresco was a huge highlight.

We opted for the cocktails featured of the night, which were described in detail to us by Andrea, the owner. When they came out the presentation, taste, freshness was all incredible. Both cocktails were not only unique but also divine. You can tell the enthusiasm and passion he has for his guests and the art of cocktail making in both his candor but also his creations.

Entering this place is like entering another world. An Italian-American style one, where classic style and warmth greets you with open arms.

The atmosphere is cozy, the staff are very welcoming and warm, and the cocktails are out of this world.

From the presentation to complimentary appetizers, I experienced something that I couldn't find anywhere else. It was all thanks to Mateo, a wonderful man who has the voice of an angel and storytelling skills like a top world author. If you ever feel lost, Mateo will take care of you, for he is a shining example of taking care of a customer.
