Just to start off, the times on the front of the resturant didn't match the actual resturant, as it stated it opened at 6.30 for evening meals but was open at 5.50 when we walked past and there was a slight queue which we got straight into and considering how small the place is, we didn't wait long at all, but bare this in mind if you plan to visit. It's very cramped inside. Not a problem for a couple like us but should you have a pushchair or wheelchair, I think I would pass and go somewhere more accessible. I can't say that the wait staff were super friendly, certainly not rude, but didn't go out of their way to give you a nice italian welcome. More of a, show you to your seat, take your order and leave you to it, kind of place. We ordered two pizzas (I had the white pizza) and 2 bruschetta, plus drinks. I was so excited for the pizza, this was the only place we had specifically wanted to visit (based on reviews) while in Rome and honestly it was just OK. I really feel like the pizza dough needed some kind of seasoning, it just lacked anything besides the nice chew it had. I also think with it being such a large, thick crust, they should provide some kind of dipping sauce/oil because it did get a bit boring. The cheese used on the pizza was lovely though, really nice flavour and texture. I couldn't eat half of my pizza, it was just too filling. Now the lady at the table beside us, also couldn't finish hers and they offered to box it up for her to take, which she accepted. But when the same waiter came over to our table and asked if I had finished, I said yes and I was not offered to box any of it up. Instead, she grabbed my plate and plonked my husbands plate straight on top, squishing my half of left over pizza, then piled the side dishes on top also, which annoyed me slightly that, for some reason, we were not offered the same service. All in all, it isn't somewhere I would rush back to, it was definitely an anti climax considering the reviews I have read about the place (much like Rome in general to be honest), which is...
Read moreFrom what I see the majority of low reviews are due to the line, size of the seating area, and wait staff. None of these were issues and only tourists with bad attitudes and no appreciation for good food would think that. There are hundreds of places selling pizza in this city for less money and faster, but they won’t be as good as this. For 13 euros the pizza was a little more expensive than others, but that’s because it’s so unique and you won’t find that kind of crust and flavors anywhere else. They do one thing and do it well, hence their limited menu. I got in line at 11:20 and waited till they opened at 12 and was greeted with friendly servers. They made a point to wait to bring my drink with my food as I requested and had nice conversations with other customers. The pizza itself was one of the best neopolitan styles I’ve had. The crust is perfect with a little char and the sauce has a good tang to it. I got mine with the pecorino (1 euro more) and enjoyed it although wished it was less dumped onto one area of the pizza to spread out flavor. The only “rudeness” you could say was the waiter reminding people coming in that there was a line outside. I understand this, however, because people tried to come in every 5 minutes after reading signs telling them not to and acting like they did not see the line across the street. It was clean, neat, and great location. The service charged seemed a bit steep but considering how quickly they turnover tables and stay busy I considered it my tip. Don’t come with large groups they can’t accommodate, I was solo and given my own table but groups of 4 or more May have to wait longer. The desserts sounded good but were spendy and I saw nobody order them. I would make an effort to come back again if in Rome and it’s obvious to me why there’s always a line. I would suggest arriving 45-30 minutes before opening and have someone wait in line while others shop or see the fountain. After seeing what food other nearby places serve for the same price or more, you won’t be...
Read moreThis pizza place was highly recommended. I went there a day before in August. I can’t remember the date, but he was in 2025 this month. The line was so long that I was like I’m not waiting in line to eat pizza so the next day, my husband and I and our friends, we decided to go try it out again this time the line wasn’t that bad so we waited about an hour And we enjoyed walking and couldn’t wait to try the pizza but guess what all of our pizzas came after we placed the order within like seven minutes that was fast we were like wow OK they have a hot oven as they clean then I couldn’t even cut my pizza. I was struggling to cut that pizza so hard. My pizza was the one with the Martella picture you can see that I posted I couldn’t cut it. I was giving my entire strength and I couldn’t do it and my friend couldn’t cut his pizza and my husband couldn’t cut his pizza we had to ask for a knife. The guy didn’t even come back with a knife. He said nothing and then he came to us when I literally only ate the Mardel on top of the pizza. Didn’t even eat the bread cause I couldn’t even slice it with the knife and he was like a steak knife there was nothing wrong with the knife. The waiter goes. Oh, I’ll tell the owner to change the knives. It’s not the knives this place is overrated. Their bread is like rubber and they claim to be very high end, and people are waiting in line for for what eating rubber dough People. What’s the hype about this place? I will never try it again.
I also forgot to say the place is small, not a lot of room so everything is squished. We were sitting by the bathroom and...
