Exactly what we were dreaming of when we set out from our ryokan on a weeknight hoping to find a sushi experience. They’re still cash-only, still run by delightful gentlemen with very limited English, and there’s now a one-page English set menu with a few sushi assortments to choose from. We made a reservation through the ryokan where we were staying. As they don’t have English menu, and also don’t speak English, we asked the ryokan to make an order for us in advance (set menu 5000¥ pp). Food was absolutely delicious, one of the best meals we had in Japan. I would recommend to book via your hotel in order to avoid any possible inconvenience (if you don’t speak Japanese).
